After getting lots of expensive quotes:( to have it changed am looking at doing it myself. Has anyone ever done this? If not any tips for removing the dash board?

Any hints would be very gratfully recieved.

Would love to let the garage do it but have had an expensive couple of months and can't live without the scoob for much longer!!

Hi ade,
Had to change the matrix on mine a few months ago MY97 turbo, not that difficult once you get into it, i had to remove the passenger glove box, whole centre console(around gear lever and handbrake)initially i removed heater controls and speedo dial cluster, there is no need to remove these, remove them with dash board, above the drivers footwell, remove the large plastic cover, you will see above the fuse box three or four large connectors, this will disconnect the dash from the rest of the wiring loom, disconnect the heater cables on the heater matrix housing, then undo the bolts for the dash......oh! get someone to give you a hand to lift out the dash, ripped my seat doing it myself

as for the price i paid £50.00 second hand from scrappies.
