goto device manager and have a look at the modem setting there. or maybe the bios as well.
|
What machine is it you have ?
If it is a Advent machine purchased from PCWorld\Dixons\Currys they did have some probs and were waiting for a bios update but only affected specific motherboards.. Gaz |
Look in your BIOS settings (usually Advanced Settings or similar). See if you have options for "Wake up on Call/Modem".
Cheers Ian |
how do i get to device manager?
|
Chaz, to get to device manager Hold down the Windows key and press the pause/break key.
Darren |
defo in the BIOS this one.
When starting the PC hold the DEL key. This will take you to the BIOS screen. Then, as mentioned look for the wake on call/ring and disable it. DW |
DW,
"Wake on call/ring" I can't find in the bios settings. Will they be the same for XP? |
If it's powered off, then the Operating System isn't loaded. So, unless the Operating Systems is in suspend (or sleep) mode, then it must be the BIOS setting that's waking the PC up.
Keep looking through the BIOS setting for mention of power on or something similar. Stefan |
On a machine with an Award BIOS, you'll find this under the Power Management Screen.
You are looking for "MODEM use IRQ" |
