The W2K administrators amongst us, what method did you go for when writing an unattended build for Server.

The options are fully Unattended, using Ghost to copy initial files down and then running the Unattended file and finally Ghost for the whole lot and then the Ghostwalker app thing for sorting name and SID.

I'm writing a standardised build and therefore want to automate it as much as possible to avoid Support guys configuring server in their own unique way. My current NT4 server build uses a boot floppy and then KIX scripts to insert unique details into the Unattended file. It then installs NT, a service pack and Citrix Metaframe installation.

What did you do?

Thanks.

Thats OK, but when the build is finished how are you going to prevetn the admins from changing aspects of the server ?

Hi Jodster, fraid i dont know the answer m8, but do you use a lot of servers ?? Everyone ive worked with has built servers from scratch, for the individual requirement/functionality it requires.
I can see your point. But they all have to be tweaked to get them to do what you want anyway. hmmmm or have i missed another course.

More coffee required.

You need a standard build design to be able to provide proper documentation. Yeah, I know, a contractor who actually does documentation. That's me right here - take a look at the freak.

Our support guys aren't members of domain admins.
