Is there a good UK only search engine?

Used to use Excite and have been using Lycos since Excite closed but despite me using the UK & Ireland only tab I still get flippin' American sites!

Not much use when looking for heating oil delivery! :)

cheers

I use www.google.co.uk and click on the "pages from the UK only" button

Cheers I hadn't realised Google had the 'sites from uk' bit :)

Yeah Google seems to be 'the' search engine at the moment.

google has been the best for a while IMHO

the "only sites from uk" doesn't work too well I find, tends to ignore some uk specific .com domains, I just put "uk" in every uk specific search I do, and it works well.

tehoma is worth a try once and a while, getting better as it's data grows i guess.

other search engines not worth the trouble I find.

I find BBC search engine quite good. There is a UK only but only after you have gone world wide. David

Excite.co.uk isn't closed

If I want UK-only results, I just stick in "UK" as one of the search terms, and it seems to do the trick (on Google).

It's not?

I told me to use lycos for a few weeks and said they were closing

<he says whilst typing to address into another window>

Same Excite logo but site is totally different from I remember..

I'll have a closer look when I am not suppose to be working..
