MY98-thus no alarm, but tracker monitor fitted. Whats the opinion-is it worth something which is just going to sound when the car has been broken into and the contents gone in a thrice?
Was thinking of a Cobra 7918 fitted for £269.00 - any comments welcome.
Cheers

Jac,

Most insurance companies will insist on Tracker and Cat 1 immobiliser as a minimum.

I have Tracker "Retrieve" fitted + Cat 1 - and even that wast't enough for Privilege Insurance, as they wanted Tracker "Monitor" or Tracker "Horizon" fitted.

I have since changed insurance companies and gone via Tom Scholfield (see "Insurance" topic).

I have the Tracker Monitor unit installed - the question is Is an alarm worth it as an addition?

Put it this way, how long do you wish to keep your scoob? 1 week? 2 weeks? 2 years?
The more deterrents you put on your car the better, alarms will be a deterrent to those scummy little toe rags that like to steal cars like ours, so, better alarm/immobiliser, disklok (visible deterrent) and a tracking system.
It wont stop the professional thief but it will stop the joyriders ;)

The way I look at it - Which would you rather have, a stolen car that is recovered having been thrashed or crashed, or a non-stolen car with the alarm going off? I have a tracker, and wouldn't be without it, but I'd much rather not have the car pinched to start with. As Tony says, the better your protection, the better the chances of keeping the car. All IMHO

The newer Scoobs come with CAT 1 alarms as standard... I think you should go that route as well.

Steering wheel locks - deter casual thief.
CAT 1 alarms - deter thief.
Tracing device - Hopefully recovers vehicle is all else fails!

Cheers - thanks for the reassurance to justify the CAT1 alarm being fitted Tue.
Thanks
