...the RS Focus out??

and the RS Cosworth Focus too...

Reffro 15 September 2002 02:05 PM

RS Focus is on sale from October.

4wd Focus is going to be 2004 if at all..............

Richard Askew 15 September 2002 03:21 PM

October?? woo-hoo off to the bank I go :D

polarbearit 15 September 2002 04:07 PM

Drive one first!

Richard Askew 15 September 2002 04:23 PM

NO! far too sensible an idea ;)

polarbearit 15 September 2002 05:04 PM

In that case I'll summerise what Jeremy Clarkson said of the Focus RS inbetween takes @ the top gear filming.

- It is faster round the airfield track than an impreza.
- It is terrible on even slightly unsmooth surfaces. (some swearing about this!)
- The diff is lethal on the road!
- It is very well priced.
- As a former cosworth owner it is very disappointing (though he used 'stronger' language!!!).

Richard Askew 15 September 2002 05:08 PM

I dont want one then LOL

Are dealerships testing them yet?? anyone know whos got demo's?

Robertio 15 September 2002 08:14 PM

Given the limited numbers I suspect it will be a long time (if at all) before any are available as demos.

I wouldn't read too much into the review anyway, I'm sure the Fiesta RS Turbo was given a similar sort of write-up many years ago, yet that was perfectly driveable as long as you were willing to put the effort in. At least it has a roof Rich, should keep the rain off you a bit better than the Elise :)

Who needs test drives anyway? I bought the scoob without even being in one, probably just as well, otherwise I would have bought an Elise instead.

nigelward 15 September 2002 08:31 PM

I think most of the bad comments leveled at the Focus RS by the press so far used to be known as driver involvement. :D

co55ie 15 September 2002 09:04 PM

seems like you lot are worried that you scoob's are now behind the FORD Focus and Evo not looking good for Subaru specially with the laughable performance the current models have to offer and its shocking residual values. Obviously the Focus will hold its value making any Subaru a very unwise purchase both financially and performance wise, besides they are so early ninties now time to ditch that Acid House Party image and that awful and typical cutesy japenese design.

Co55ie, don't assume everyone around here has an Impreza. I can't comment for everyone on this thread, but Richard has an Elise, I have a Westfield and I'm pretty sure PolarBear has a Skyline.

co55ie 15 September 2002 10:21 PM

then why on earth do you think that the utter nonsense i posted above in anyway refers to yourself ?

jonny gav 15 September 2002 10:34 PM

thats right co55ie,you stick with your 80's taxi and i'll stick with the "voted best performance car of the 90's"

hold on, wasn't the escort cossie only made in the 90's!!!
that means it was beaten by the impreza!!!

better get your wham albums out quick :D :D ;)

co55ie 15 September 2002 11:29 PM

fancy swapping any wham for your D-MOB 12 " singles
Aciiiieeeedddddddd

polarbearit 16 September 2002 07:27 PM

Not jaded about about fords etc... I do indeed own a skyline and am currently looking for a second car, and a Focus (though not an RS) is one of the things I'm considering!

Clarkson was pretty concerned about the diff and I'm quite sure he confusing it with 'driver involvement'!

I certainly wouldn't buy one without driving it first, I don't think the reviews are good enough to have the halo effect on prices etc that M3 etc has had.

"How To Make Friends And Influence People" - co55ie, I do believe there is a literature market out there waiting to be exploited by your posts ;)

Robertio 16 September 2002 09:14 PM

Co55ie, your post started 'seems like you lot ', if you weren't talking about the 5 people who had posted in this topic, then who was you comment aimed at? and should it not have been in a different thread?

There are more than enough 'my car's better than your car' threads kicking around without dragging it into other topics.

TurboBoost 16 September 2002 10:46 PM

Co55ie the Escort RS Turbo, Astra GTE 16V, 205 1.9 and Renault 5 GT Turbo were Acid House cars.
Only ****ing farmers drove Scoobs back then ;)

Acid House music was circa 1987-89

The Impreza was 1994 onwards....

What the hell are you on about?

co55ie 17 September 2002 04:09 PM

Hurdster you are totally wrong acid house in its vaious genres was around way before 87 and is still being made in various forms today. I expect you also jumoed on the bandwagon with this aswell as with your ownership of your scooby.
You are talking to the wrong person if you wish to talk electronic dance music and spout rubbish.
Somebody asked what I did for a living and now you have your answer.

hudster2 18 September 2002 10:15 AM

Co55ie,
FYI I don't own an Impreza.
Of course Acid House is still being made today, but the dates I gave was when it all really blew up and everyone got into it - "Got on the band wagon", to use your words. This is what you were talking about before and you were relating this to the Impreza. In my opinion at least, they were totally different times mate.

1987 I believe was when Phutures 'Acid Tracks' was released on Trax. What was around "Way before" then that was acidic? Stuff like 'Washing Machine' was 1986 but that wasn't really acidy and isn't "Way before"?

Btw. I'm not having ago at Cossies or anything like that, so I don't want an ugly arguement. I just disagree with your statement that the Impreza is an "Acid House" car.

co55ie 18 September 2002 11:08 AM

Phuture thats right 1987 on Trax. Worth a few quid the 12 is as it has cocaine on the b side.
Anthing with an 808/909 and buzzing 303 could really be described as acid. Whats the difference between this and some of JMJ's mid 70's stuff and some of kraftwerk's stark minimalist stuff not really alot.
I remember the washing machine track too. Are you or were you into this stuff Hurdster ?
