Folks,

There is a Reg that i like on the DVLA website. I called them and they say that their personalized Reg No's can only go on cars from the U.K mainland.
Is there any way aroung this ??

Cheers

I think the only way you will be able to get it is to transfer it to a vehicle registered on the mainland and then re-transfer it to your own. I was looking at a reg from newreg.com and unfortunately thats the only way they can do it hence we would pay double the transfer fee too. A pretty bum deal if you ask me!

mrp is correct. The reg must be on a UK vehicle before a transfer.
The company I bought mine from had to take mine off retention onto a vehicle then transfer to me.
I've no idea how you'd go about dealing direct with the DVLA though. How about trying some of the local reg companies to see if they could sort you out for a fee?

The DVLA is part of the Government...Bum Deal. You mean you thought they arent always trying to rob us???? Making things simple wouldnt make them any money. Complication, and red tape, will always make them more profit.

Thanks for all the info lads.
The plate is £399 and its V6 R GO. Sounded good at the time as my car is just that.
Alas the red tape has choked the life from me again !!!
Not too interested in going to all the bother of transferring from one car to the other never mind the expence.
Thanks again....

There are loads of local reg companies that will do it for you. For an extra 100 odd quid V6 R GO cetainly beats IKZ 1234 etc etc.

If you still really dont want to pay the extra money then transfer your cars details to a mate living in england, put the plate on and the move the car back to NI with the plate. easy.

That sounds like a plan ....
What do you think of the plate ?
Are there better combinations for this car in your opinion ??

There are loads of better combinations mate. Take a few minutes and let your mind wander around www.dvla-som.co.uk

Make sure you go for the old style plates as the new plates are harder to get a good one out of.
