Your input is required :D
Is all the hype about friday the 13th just waffle or has anything bad ever happened to you on this date?

Tony:D

TelBoy 13 September 2002 11:15 AM

TonyG 13 September 2002 11:22 AM

Friday the 6th last week was far worse for me than today has been.

jamin 13 September 2002 11:23 AM

Well my car started playing up this morning after having a lot of money spent getting it right and my new mobile phone has just packed in...I'm becoming a believer in the 13th stuff...

The Crushinator 13 September 2002 11:40 AM

It's a load of tosh. It's no different from saying that putting up an umbrella indoors is bad luck:rolleyes:

jonny gav 13 September 2002 11:45 AM

how did friday 13th become unlucky???

did it have something to do with the last supper???

TelBoy 13 September 2002 11:48 AM

Cos Jesus is thought to have been crucified on a friday, and there were 13 at the last supper...

TelBoy 13 September 2002 11:49 AM

Unlike Southend United, who are crucified most saturdays, and allegedly have 11 in their team...

bladerider 13 September 2002 11:58 AM

Never thought much of Friday 13th until today. I have a 50 mile round trip to work each morning. About two miles from work I had to stop at a roundabout. It was then I noticed the thick steam cloud coming from under the bonnet. "Oh dear" I thought, (substitute expletive)this looks a problem, I hope its nothing serious. I'll let it cool for a while before I take a look. I wonder how I'll get the car home this afternoon.

Brendan Hughes 13 September 2002 12:28 PM

Had my first "real" pushbike stolen on Fri 13, when I was 15. Parked it outside a shop, didn't bother with the expensive horseshoe lock on it as I would only be inside 2 mins. Came back, bike (and horseshoe lock!) stolen. I still remember filling in the form and  at realising the date. I'd replaced so much on that bike, it was really "mine". Gutted.

Got the insurance payout, smashed all my piggy banks, got a four hundred quid touring bike, spent a month youth hostelling round France and Germany the next summer. I still have the bike, though driving licence and long absences in funny countries means it hasn't been ridden for years.

Unlucky?

Oh, hello - erm, why are you carrying that axe

Andrewza 13 September 2002 02:21 PM

Actually heard on the radio last night less accidents happen on Friday 13th because people are more cautious according to some insurance company.

shunty 13 September 2002 02:52 PM

I have to admit, although I am a sarcastic fooker with most things in life...I am a bit on the superstitious side..wouldn't like to tempt fate.

shunty

fatherpierre 13 September 2002 02:59 PM

Load of old arse.

AllanB 13 September 2002 03:47 PM

I don't beleive in that at all. Odd that my boiler packs up , engineer due to fix it cancels, I scald my hand, and run out of ciggies. It must be true !

AllanB

Shark 13 September 2002 04:22 PM

Could be a bad corner :D

Stevep 13 September 2002 05:22 PM

I have admit as shunty said I don't tempt fait anymore.

When I was 16 I was trying to get home a bit pissed from some sh1te club. Had to catch the last train home, but on the way to the train station I had to get a kebab :D

Me and a mate waited in the queue, we were starving as you would be after a few snake bite blacks (who remembers them or still drinks them own up??)

So first of all there was a bloody long queue, then some guy got a bit rowdy, but calmed down. Then the lights on the van went off (spooky). They came back on 5 mins later, then the gas ran out so the meat/elephants leg couldn't cook.

I managed to grab a kebab run to the station 10 mins walk away, as I was running over the bridge the train was pulling in. I had to jump over a 7ft wall to get to the platform. As I was coming over the doors were closing, I managed to jump down grap the doors and prise them open and jump on the train JUST with my mate.

This is why I no longer tempt fate.

Mind you could all be a coincidence :D

Steve

Esoteric Beast 13 September 2002 05:35 PM

You must be a TALL bloke to jump over a 7 foot wall?
Maybe your Spiderman or someother Superhero :):):)

RaZe-=Buzz=- 13 September 2002 05:37 PM

Esoteric Beast 13 September 2002 06:39 PM

I found out today that my employer has overpaid me by 1200 quid, but due to the fact its there fault and some legal stuff I dont want to understand I get to keep it :):):)

How Unlucky Is THAT :):):):):):):)

Crapaud62 13 September 2002 06:53 PM

Well the 400 people that were evacuated when the largest hotel in Jersey burnt down this morning will remember Friday 13th!

The alarm was raised on the stroke of midnight just as it became Friday 13th.

Major traffic chaos this morning as the island ground to a stop as the main roads were all closed.

Lucky I was in London today:)

Stevep 13 September 2002 11:47 PM

EB Did I say 7ft wall?? I meant 5ft.

Just seeing if any of you noticed ;)

I'm actually 8ft 10in :D
