Thinking about a 911 as a second car, budget of around £10000.
Thoughts anyone ?

10 large doesn't get you much of a 911 in the UK. Best bet on that budget is to get a left-hooker direct from Germany.

There are plenty of good examples over there for less then 10k, and LHD shouldn't matter if it's a weekend car. Also if you get it at the right price over there, you will be able to sell it here for same or possibly more IMHO.

Worth investigating anyway...

911 3.0 SC coupe C2 look. 1979. RHD car. visually upgraded to 964 look including genuine Porsche alloys. A lovely looking car with all the benefits of the 3.0 SC, galvanised body, easy and affordable maintenance etc. An exciting entry into 911 ownership that still looks the part. Immobiliser, electric windows and sunroof etc. £11,995 Millennium bug trade price £9,995

Selling on behalf of a customer. 911 3.0 SC targa LHD 1979. A sensible buy for someone looking to get into 911 ownership for under £10,000. 16 inch fuchs alloys. The car drives well and is in fairly tidy order for the age. The interior is all up together. We get quite a few calls during the course of a year from people looking to aquire cheap 911`s and most of them will be very disappointed with their 1974 2.7`s etc !!!! This is the way to go. Millennium bug trade price £6,995

911 3.2 Carrera coupe 1984. Porsche 911`s don`t come a lot cheaper. Another one we`ve sold in the past. Full service history with a big stack of bills. 16 inch Fuchs alloys, Front and rear spoilers, electric sunroof and windows. Ideal first 911 on a budget. £13,495 Millennium bug trade price £11,495

I too am looking at a 911 as a weekend car :) I am looking at the 964 model MY89-93, just like the styling of this model

Looking to buy next year in the spring or summer, I am currently trying to soak up as much information as possible, I find 911 & Porsche world magazine very informative, lots of buyers guides + cars for sale.

Try, www.porsche-classified.co.uk - lots of links to most things Porsche.

Does anybody have any more info on good insurance companies for these cars ? does the car have to be a certain age to qualify for classic insurance ?

Cheers
Richard :)
