Hi Mate

I think someone on here has a little virus which is using there contact list which you are probably on and "forging" it by send emails out to people from you

As long as you have a decent virus software your machine shouldn't be sending emails out

If i'm talking bo**ocks i'm sure some one will correct me

I have just deleted 99% of my address book just incase it was something to do with me
BUT I know very little about computers & am confused !

Are you running some anti virus software? If so, do you update it often?

A lot of the current viruses will send e-mails out from your PC without you knowing.

Fulham71 10 September 2002 12:37 PM

yes I have anti virus which is updated very regularly

install anti-spyware as well like ad-adware (www.lavasoftusa.com), pestpatrol (www.safersite.com) or bullguard (www.bullguard.com).

You have mail from your self  ;)

Yes it is possible to do, you can view the source of the message that sometimes may give you pointers on its origins.

Fulham71 10 September 2002 12:46 PM

how did you do that !

suba 10 September 2002 01:15 PM

depending what email client you are using, look for something like "properties", "details" or "source".

Someone has Klez. It sends viruses TO everyone in the address book but also FROM everyone in the address book. It's a reet bastid.

Outlook did used to allow messages to be sent without you knowing. Service Release 2 fixes this.

Thanks guys
Chiark HOw do i get rid ?
Sorry not very good with computers !

Paul,

It is probably NOT you with the virus, Klez IIRC pics an address from the infected PC's address book, and then send from that address.

Ian
