this may be a stupid question...

I want a turbo timer for my new baby. How do these things work? A friend has a Clifford Concept alarm thing that keeps the engine running for 2 and a half minutes after turning the ignition off. So he can go into his house and let the car cool down on it's own.

Is this how all turbo timers work, or do you need to leave the key in the ignition? It just times it for you rather than you doing it yourself?

turbo timers work on the same idea just some alarms dont allow u to arm until the timer has shut off! as i found out!

Is there any way to tell the alarm is turbo timer "friendly"?

R 5C0DBY 09 September 2002 06:47 PM

not sure really apart from speakto the manufacturer!

I dont think that the Sigma M30 can interface with a Turbo Timer, I would advise speaking to your local Sigma Alarm fitter.

I guess it's just a 'suck it and see' type thing then.

Neanderthal 09 September 2002 11:04 PM

OK, so worse case scenario is that I have to wait around whilst the turbo timer does its thing (I'm not sure I could walk away from it with the engine running any way ;) )

How easy are these to fit???
I'm thinking of the Blitz Dual DC one.

I agree with neanderthal on this. How could you leave it running! It's illegal in some counties anyway, apparently. To leave the engine running.

Like the look for the Blitz DC, not sure about needing the digital rev counter and lap timers etc, but would be fun to see how quickly you can blast your favourite lanes. Like the automatic idea, so it leaves it running as long as neccessary, rather than a set time.

thats the one i fitted found it quite easy thanx to plantie takin outta his car and fittin straight in mine! but are fairly easy tho!just plug the wirin harness into the black plug under the steerin column, earth to the dash mountings, connect the handbrake wire altho this means takin the surround off,and your boost pipe out to a pipe somewhere! all fairly easy stuff mine was done in around hour! will get a pic sorted shortly!

Sounds easy enough :)

Where did you mount yours?

chockymonster 11 September 2002 04:50 PM

Heard bad reviews about the automatic side of the blitz, it doens't let the car idle for long enough after a spirited run.
I've been looking at the apexi turbo timer, retails at £100 (seen it for a lot less than that) plus it has a built in AFR meter!

But the alarm problem does bother me, is a clifford the only solution?

top end cliffords, ie concept 400, 500 and 600s all have this as standard. easy to use and programmable by laptop/pc as required.
