The main thing IMO would be that it's been serviced regular, as the AYC needs to be done every 4700 mile (a pain I know but you can do it yourself in 15mins) if this hassent been done then there is a high chance of it messing up in future.

Try and get as low milage as possible as Evo 5's take a dip in price after 40,000 miles. Things like front spots are expensive so make sure thet are ok.

Usual things really you would look for when buying a car. Do check the VIN Number under the bonnet as I have heard stories of Evo 4s being dressed as 5's. Should start CP9A 00**** what ever just CP9a is the main for the 5.

The engine should sound smooth and there shouldnt be any taps or knocks compleatly different sound to the subaru. ;)

Thats all I can think of really, ask on the MLR if you get chance they may add to my comments. :)

Mellow Yellow has an evo 5 with 22k for sale at 16k ;) id go 4 that or there is an evo 4 with 14km on the clock in stockport (14k = approx 9-10k miles so a good buy too!)

Don't forget that the Evo V was subject to a recall regarding an AYC fix. You need to make sure the work has been done. A mitsi dealer should be able to help as long as you have the chassis number.
Apart from that just make sure that the service schedule has been stuck to rigidly and you'll have no worries.

as above full service history and try and avoid cars that have been on track.

I have been on track with mine once, still a 22,000 mile minter. ;)

IMO everyone needs to do at least one track day in these cars, thats what they are for, you only start to get a real feeling of the cars limits and what its capable of on the track. :)

Agreed, even my dealer admits the only place you can use a Evo to its full potential is to use it on a track.... try getting a Scoob dealer to say that!!! LOL!

Mines done a couple of track days, you have to remember that the Evo engine is alot stronger than a Scoob engine too.

agree with cryptwalk. ive not been on track yet, but the previous owner of my car did do one track day in it. i didnt see it as a problem, and still bought the car.glad i did, its sweet:).

i would rather buy a car from an enthusiast who does an occasional trackday, than from some d1ck who knows nowt about these cars and runs it on normal unleaded and never gets it serviced.
