got some a while back for later to be put on the car when i get the bumper done, well time to do bumper soon so are these fogs or driving lamps? I've seen somewhere that it's driving lamps.

but then again i don't see many p1's at night bt when i do they don't have them on.

I'm pretty sure they're driving lamps.

So am I. Are yours halogen ones, or HID? Both were available I think.

Steve Breen 08 September 2002 12:19 AM

Definately driving lamps, and should be wired in to only come on with full beam (ie when the little blue light comes on in the instrument panel). May be thats why you haven't seen any with them on?

From http://www.iwoc.co.uk/myp1.html a comparison of dipped, full, and full with driving lights.

Supplied standard as halogen (which I upgraded with a set of higher wattage bulbs) or as a £400 HID option.

thanks, how can i tell??

Steve Breen 17 September 2002 05:01 PM

Easy. If they are fitted with H7 bulbs then they are halogen. If they cost lots of money, don't look like bulbs, have a transformer to fit as well as other bits and pieces then they are HIDs. I've never seen the HIDs but I think they re a sealed unit too?

feck, want some but not for that price:eek:!

Ok, feeling a bit "vulture-like" here, but if you decide not to fit them, I'll consider taking them from you....

Or, could you let me know where you sourced them from mate ?

Cheers

I have HIDS on my P1 and they are excellent. Infact amzing on country roads at night. I would highly recommend them. Fortunately they were on the car when I bought it :D

Editied to say and confirm that they are part of the main beam wiring and work only when full beam is on. Otherwise other drivers would have their retina's burnt out :o

I've got the Scoobysport aftermarket HID's, Hella 1000FF. I also have Morettes with Philips Vision Plus bulbs in.
With just the Morettes, I think I've got good lights. Then I put the HID's on,(they're switched into the main beam circuit, so I can choose whether to use 'em or not), and it's goodnight halogen lights! The HID's make even good halogen lights look yellow.
