Jolly Green Monster 2 06 September 2002 09:37 AM

Surely they couldn't have wanted the 205?

JGM ;)

magnum 06 September 2002 10:17 AM

weird
youve gotta feel for the guy
but a good 205 would fetch like a grand tops!!
and theyre slow in comparison to other cars
i carry a baton in my car and whilst i wouldnt advocate anyone else doing the same i wouldnt even hesitate to use it if someone challenged me
but then again i box at heavyweight and im built like a wall

Jolly Green Monster 2 06 September 2002 10:26 AM

Hey do you have a 308 and a hawaii shirt and a hairy chest too?

Couldn't resist it...

They must have mistaken him for someone.. does seem as bit weird though him saying the 205 got up a foot high kerb, with no apparent damage..

perhaps they mistook him for someone else... there could be many reasons I guess but at the price of a pug I cannot see it being for the car like you say.

I really dunno if I might hand over the keys or run if I was confronted.. my car is nothing special but that doesn't seem to stop them.

With a batton or similar weapon you might end up in court/prison but at least there is more chance of survival.. have to say I'd rather do a couple of years inside for hitting someone a couple of times than be dead and leave my kid without a dad and my wife a widow etc..

JGM

Brun 06 September 2002 10:41 AM

I don't believe for a minute he walked into the cop shop and said he was doing 110mph in a 30.

Jolly Green Monster 2 06 September 2002 10:52 AM

Brun,

I thought that too, I bet his story was a little different for the Police..

Wonder if you could get off a speeding ticket if you said you were chased etc. ?

JGM :)

TAZMAN 06 September 2002 11:14 AM

if you beleive your life to be in danger I think they will let you off....

better then a baton is the steering lock called a billy club(I think thats the name), looks just like a baseball club, anyway under the self defence act you are allowed to use reasonable force to defend yourself i.e. equal to the threat being issued.
Carrying a weapon would show intent to use it in defence irrespectie of the threat, however the law views using objects of opportunity very differently i.e. brick, dustbin lid umbrella etc...

so officer as the guy pulled a knife on me..I just happened to use my steering lock to defend my self....never noticed it was shaped like a baseball bat until now!! lol

yoza 06 September 2002 11:36 AM

"One time at bandcamp"...........:D :D

TAZMAN 06 September 2002 11:44 AM

so that was you at bandcamp yoza.....how do you stay so felxiable??? :):):)

Gaz Jones 06 September 2002 03:46 PM

sounds a bit dodgy to me, was it a nova or a cavalier, any kind of enthusiast would know that, still, bet he **** himself.
Laws need to be changed, you should be able to shoot, or beat f@ck out of someone that does something like that, e.g farmer sent down for shooting scroat robbing his house. well done to the man I say....

(Just My opinion)

"F*** this I thought I hit the throttle"

"anyway I thrashed my car like I never have before"

"braked as hard as I could, due to my brakes being crap at the moment...."

"with sparks and smoke shooting from the brake disks! "

"if it was not for the wheel spin I would have ...."

"I just drove as fast as I could away "

"down the centre of Milton Keynes doing over 110mph in a 30 "

"hit a bump in the road and my actually took off, all 4 wheels off the ground"

"thing I saw was a mushroom cloud of steam erupting from the bonnet "

any chance he had been watching the fast and the furipants at his mates house before this "happened"

hmm
yeah reading it back you wonder about its authenticity

With referance to being let off speeding-A mate was stopping at my house and his GF rang to say that 3 men had followed her back from town after a night out and wouldn't let them out of the phone box they were in.We gto down to the phonebox as quick as we could but when we got there the scrotes were leaving and I ercognised one of them as a local thug. Then a cop car pulls up and gets my mate in the back of the car for speeding and showed him the video of him doing 86mph in a 30.He told them why and I named the thug whom they knew of and they accepted the story, letting him off and went looking for the scumbags. It shows that common sense does sometimes prevail. He was driving a Pug Gti too:D.

Guys..

I am the guy from the 205 forum that this post refers to.

Firstly, I noticed a few weeks back that this post has found its way onto other forums, I have been touched by people attitude towards this and the support they have given me. For the most part I have not gotten involved with posting replies on other forums except to say thanks but I felt I had to say something here.

I have been posting on the 205 GTI forum for years and consider a lot of the people on there friends, this post (although I may have been a bit OTT with my language and descriptions) is 100% accurate, I have to exaggerated anything and yes I did tell the cops I was doing 110 in a 30. As I have discussed on the 205 forum I do not know why I was chased even though car jacking seems most likely, and even if it was I know 205’s are not worth much but does that matter when you intent is to joy ride?

I reason I am posting is not to ague against people who think I am talking bollocks I just want to aware that people like this are out there and hopefully people can try and avoid what happened to me. It is hard to outrun people who are prepared to ram you, I was driving a 205 turbo that is probably about as fast as a standard Scooby and I still got hit in the back.

Regards
PHyR

LOL @ magnum

> but a good 205 would fetch like a grand tops!!
> and theyre slow in comparison to other cars

maybe your mums' 1.4 l model aint that fast, but 205's are the same as any older car (cossies, even old scoobys', etc :) ) if you spend the cash on them then they can go quite quick - the current saloon car lap record at castle combe is held by a 205 (this is a series where M3's, scoobies and 350 bhp turbo's things compete)
