I'm expecting delivery of my UK spec car from Holland in the next month (ish). So I need to fit an alarm and being new to the area would welcome recommendations of any good auto electricians/alarm fitters in the Birmingham/Worcester area.
I'm really looking for someone who has a track record with Impreza's since it appears that its the fitter rather than the exact alarm system spec, which is important. Also, does anyone know how important it is to select a fitter who has VSIB approval? From the yellow pages some appear to be VSIB approved but many are not. |
you MUST use a VSIB installer, otherwise the CAT1 will not be recognised by the insurance company.
You must ask for a VSIB certificate when the system is installed to show the insurance company too. hope this info helps cheers john |
When i bought my first Impreza from Listers they used a Clifford dealer in Worcester town centre, i dont know the name now unfortunately but that might be a good place to start. If i remember the name i will update this http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

I seem to remember that I got the number of my installer via the thatcham web site

Thanks for the information guys.
Now waiting for delivery with anticipation! Phil |
Phil,
I also used a Clifford fitter in Worcester called Mobile Audio (Same guys Ian ?) for an alarm system on my GT4. Very professional and they are VSIB which you will need to get a car insurance discount if fitting a CAT1 alarm system I have had many dealings with these guys and I can recommend them for fitting of alarms and of ICE. Their contact details follow: Mobile Audio 56 Lowesmoor Worcester Worcestershire WR1 2SE Tel: 01905 23315 Cheers Ian Watkins |
IanW it may be the name sounds familiar, they had a 1000 bhp yellow Skyline in pieces in there when i went there, had been stolen and damaged, it was in for a decent alarm as well as a rebuild http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif about 2 years ago though.

IWatskins, thanks for the detailed contact information.
Thought you may be interested to know that Mobile Audio have let their VSIB membership lapse. Taking on board John's advice this unfortunately rules them out. I also think that the Thatcham site may have been updated - very complex and difficult to navigate - hence no contact information located. |
