Dont laugh at this but strangely it does work.... :)
Go into device manager and remove the floppy disk controllers and restart the machine, When it restarts it will reinstall the floppy controllers and the SuspendFlag entries in the registry are also reset. This will fix it, well its worked on 2 different machines i've tried it on. Let me know if it works Gazza  [Edited by GAZZ SCOOBY - 9/2/2002 3:25:50 PM] |
Hi Peeps,
I got a message when my computer went on standby asking me whether I wanted my computer to go on standby again and I clicked on no. Now in the shut down menu, standby has disapeared, leaving me with only, shutdown, restart and restart in Dos mode. How do I get the standby option back? Cheers, Wrexy. |
goto control panel -> power options. There should be stuff about it in there.

goto the BIOS and play about with the setting there as well.

Thanks for the replies, however there is nothing in power options to bring it back. How do I get into BIOS? :D
Cheers, Wrexy. |
I used to have no end of problems with standby ... pc just wouldn't wake up again ... so I've disabled it. I just leave the machine running and only turn monitor off.

wrexy what windows are you running?
in win xp: start -> control panel -> performance & maintenance -> under 'or pick a control panel icon' power option -> power schemes glo-glo |
Glo-glo,
Win 98 SE Cheers, Wrexy. |
when you boot up your PC, look at the screen message. it would be something like press DEL key to goto the BIOS.
btw, i think to make full use of the power management, your PC need to support ACPI. goto the motherboard or PC manufacturer website and look for any drivers/software for power management. |
Gazza,
Did exactly what you said and it worked!!!!! :D Thanks alot m8! :) Cheers, Wrexy. PS Thanks to all that replied. :) |
