What's the point of this question on a Scooby board? You are just going to have people saying the Scoob's noise is fab, the servicing and fuel tank issues of the Evo are it's downfall..........and no way, I would have my Scoob anyday.
There you go, no need to continue this thread. [Edited by SwinYE5 - 9/1/2002 2:36:45 PM] |
22b!
love that car [Edited by Eagle7 - 9/1/2002 11:10:17 PM] |
Oh yes, I'd have an EVO...
An RS200 one, mind you;) [Edited by Scot123 - 9/2/2002 6:37:44 PM] |
Some Evo owners are convinced we would all buy Evos if we had the money.....Yes or No
Me: No way! Tried Evo6 and 7... bought an STi7 type UK Prodrive style and will fork out for the PPP one day so cost differential is no issue in this case. |
I have a scoob but would choose the Evo........ let the thread continue ;)

If money were no object, I think I'd have a 22B
- Jon |
If money was no object I'd buy a proper car like a new M3.
|
Money wasnt the main issue I looked at a 6 and recently a 7 the scoob had more personal pros than cons than the EVO. EVO may make a better track car and with a big enough budget make a safe 400bhp but IMHO the scoob is a better everyday road car, sounds better and IMHO looks better (in classic shape form).
|
If money was no object I'd buy a proper car like a new M3. My stable would have : Mclaren F1, 550M, 959, Zonda, F50, F40, 250GTO, XJ220, Diablo, F355, 22B ;), Skyline May have an M3 but it would be on the list to do the shopping round town stuff and leave the proper sports cars for the weekends ;). Also the butler would need something to run about in :D. Funnily enough I would keep the RA and have 700+bhp extracted from it :p for track days. Like you say money no object we can all get rather silly ;). [Edited by Type_RA - 9/1/2002 2:55:00 PM] |
I'd have an evo running gear grafted into a caterham
and an M5 for doing the shopping. I'd buy an RS500 and take it to the RS owners day, and proceed to smash it up with a sledge hammer.. |
money no object we can all get rather silly |
LOL :D
|
Given that the two cars are fairly similar in price, I think you should have phrased it somewhat differently. That way you would have had fewer clever dick replies than you'll get.
That said, I would stick with a Scoob. Although there is no doubt the Evos are stunningly quick cars, and in some ways superior, I find their appearance a little too 'OTT' for me. Quite apart from their having even worse economy and shorter service intervals than the Impreza. Maybe I'm just getting too old and too broke. Josh |
Id just buy myself a nice exotic car dealership and have as many different types of cars in there as i could ;) that way id get the best of everyones world :D
Tony:D |
Neither if money was no object
911 Turbo 4 please |
SKYLINE!!!
|
If money were no object I'd have the running gear from Tommi Makkinen's Scoob put underneath a mondeo shell and see how many funny looks I got when the anti-lag threw 4 ft flames out the back of my shopping car!
Then watch Ferrari and Porshe owners wince when a Mondeo LX goes past them. :-) |
22B or a Skyline
|
If money was no object, i would buy an Evo6 Tommi Edition!:p I don't think fuel consumption would worry me, as i would be loaded, and i would soon get over loosing the flat4 rumble:cool::D
|
if you were loaded you wouldnt need to get rid of the scoob ;)
|
I had this decision to make last year...
The EVO7 and the STI7 aren't that much different in price in NZ. Decision: STI7 because: - Larger fuel tank (esp. because 98 octane is not everywhere) - 6 spd gearbox - Nicer interior - Engine note/Flat 4 - Less electronic drivetrain trickery... But it was a close thing... |
Evo 4 5 6 no questions
scoobs look ugly except the 22b proper motor ,unique and the best scoob ever made |
A big dirty bentley turbo, and like everyone else , keep the scoob!
|
... and get an evo for sundays!!!
|

Me: No way! Tried Evo6 and 7... bought an STi7 type UK Prodrive style and will fork out for the PPP one day so cost differential is no issue in this case. the above is your own words scoobycar scoobycar its not what evo owners think mate. youre inferring some kind of snobbery etc which simply isnt true. there are many scooby owners who earn a sh1tload, yet still drive a scooby because thats what they like, and all power to 'em i say:). what evo owners are saying is that they have a superior car to a scooby. which is true IMHO. sure, fuel consumtion is heavy, fuel stops can be a pain etc etc. BUT..if thats your main concern, just buy a bmw diesel 3 series or summat:rolleyes: each to their own. scoobys sound nice, but then so does my evo, just in a different way.but apart from sounding mildy tvr,and a bigger fuel tank, i cant think of any way the scooby (whatever its incarnation) is superior. still, enjoy whatever car you drive:) |
ooopps i can see a big one kickin off about this...
|
Since I'm a wagon fan, if money were no object I'd buy an Audi RS4 or RS6 Avant.
|
Fuel consumption!!!
My Evo with 350bhp (yes its been on the rollers and thats thc re calculated figure 267 at the wheels) does more mpg than my modded UK scoob did with 285bhp! Jeremy |
At the end of the day its all personal preference. If we all liked the same car then the world would be one very boring place and we would all probably drive Fiat Multipla's. Thankfully its not and we dont :)
Anyway I'd choose a P1 over an Evo purely on looks and sound. As for performance - Im betting 90%+ of people on here couldn't drive either car anywhere near its limit so its academic anyway. Simon. |

If you look at the "Mellow" thread you will see I am quoting Claudius who is taking me and others to task. I quote:- "All of the Subaru owners I have talked to said that they would love to have an Evo but couldnt afford it. So I doubt your prophecy." This is the first mention of snobbery, interestingly by an evo owner ,where did you get that from my thread, I was deliberatly trying to avoid such nonsence. Some seem to have deliberatly mis-interpretted the title of this thread (I agree, badly worded as it is) The question should have been along the lines of if there were no cost issues between an evo7 and say an STi7 which of these cars would you have chosen. It may well be that more would have chosen an evo...so be it, I just wonder how many who post have actually tried an evo before making that choice here. I agree with a lot you say, the Evo is a faster track car, but that does't mean that scoobies lose much to an evo in the right hands. As I drive all my miles on the road I felt that the loss of a little of this track performance for ride quality, economy(not great I know!) etc suited me and that is the point I suppose ME i.e. MY choice. |
