Can't seem to find any fibre outputs for the GC  But then I'm no expert on them :D

This looks handy though :D

Someone else must have one and know the answer ?

I was looking in the sound settings of WaveRace for the Gamecube, and it has an option for surround sound.

How does one get it to work? I have put the left and right audio channel into my dts amp, and the video into my tv - it comes out in stereo fine, but cant get surround sound to come out :(

Do I have to buy a different lead / connector? as I see on the back of the GameCube an socket for digital av out?

Any sounds panned to the surround channel will be surround-encoded. The encoding method is compatible with Dolby Surround and Dolby Prologic decoders. Note that this output mode supports a single (mono) surround channel. Sounds panned to the surround channel are attenuated by -6 dB.

AX_MODE_DPL2 This output mode supports two surround channels via Dolby Prologic-2 encoding. (AUXB effects not available in this mode). Again, surround channel sounds are attenuated by -6dB.

Need any more info, just ask?

er you have sort of lost me :D

You should get analogue Dolby Surround using the phono plugs, but if you want Dolby Digital or DTS you really need to be using an optical cable to your amp.

Lik Sang do them for just over £3 :)

yes but that aint for the gamecube :D

Shouldn't matter, an optical cable is an optical cable.

If the GC doesn't have optical out, then you need to purchase an RGB scart with optical out socket. These are available for the X-Box so should be available for your console too.

now we are getting somewhere :D

what so good about the Logic 3 GameCube RGB Scart Cable ?

DJ Dunk 02 September 2002 12:31 PM

If you currently use the a composite cable then you will notice a significant (IMO) improvement in picture clarity with an RGB scart cable, as you probably know.

The offical GC scart does not have audio outputs, I think this one does.
