Just purchased a new toy, a Dax Rush with the hayabusa 1300 engine and paddle steering wheel mounted gearchange.
I used to think my Sti 7 was quick until I drove this animal of a car. 180bhp,450kg and 12000rpm adds up to fecking quick. I will be taking it to some of the track days in the north of england, so if anyone see's me there and likes being scared shtless, hop in the passenger seat and I will try oblige. You will need a full face helmet as the windscreen was optional. I know this is a Subaru forum but is there anyone out there with experience of mods available to Hayabusa engines or Dax cars. Ian |
Prehaps should be in the Bike forum :D ;)
Best u/grade for a 'busa engine is a Turbo :D  There are a number of sucessful conversions on bikes, so shouldn't be too hard to find :D Do ask in Bike forum! The mind boggleth  |
There was a 'busa turbo Dax Rush in CCC a while ago. 'kin fast!!
|
Sounds awesome!
Mossman :) |
got any pics? I'm intrigued..
|
Just about to buy a digital camera, but I havn't got a clue how to post them.
Ian |
good old google found a few sites
http://www.ats-design.co.uk/dax.htm this guys stuck a v8 in! if your 1300 is quick...scary! an' some more http://www.daxcars.com/cgi-bin/menu/indexpage.pl?http://www.daxcars.com/dax_rush.shtml nice toy! |
I was at a track day at Knockhill recently and there was a very unusual blackbird engined Caterham or similar, it was converted as the previous owner had no use of his legs.
All the controls, including the brakes were hand operated, but the best part was the quick shift, there was an ignition kill switch which operated whenever the gear stick was moved, the sound of this car coming down the straight with clutchless up shift was awesome. |
turbo'd Busa motors can belt out up to 450bhp with the right bits
|
I bet they go with a BIG BANG though, an engine designed for 170/180bhp producing 450 !!!!
|
Just been to currys and bought a digital camera. How do I put the pics on scoobynet.
A dax with 450bhp must be undrivable, I can spin the rear wheels in 3rd gear at 60mph in the dry with 180bhp. Ian |
why is this in here not "Other Marques"?
I think the one in CCC had 300bhp BTW |
Mark
It's here because it first appeared in General, which is defo not the place for it. It has ref to OM & also to Bikers but as the main thrust of the questioning was for MegaBusa engine u/grade, seemed the best place to have it. Anyhow, some other mod moved it not me ;) X2 Put an img tag either side of the url of the webspace to which you've uploaded the pictures & a / in the second img :) Edit this post to see how I've done it in the pic... http://www.excel.co.uk/images/bike.jpg :) [Edited by Puff The Magic Wagon! - 8/31/2002 4:54:25 PM] |
Oh & when we've dealt with the engine side, we'll shift to OM - OK?
:) |
For Turbo 'Busa look here
350BHP for £4000 from Holeshot Racing (tel:0113 257 6644) http://www.daxcars.co.uk/rush/review...s/kitcar_5.jpg |
Whoa!!!!! HOLY TITS!!!!!
|
That looks awesome!! :D:D:D
I know what the Busa motor is like, because I have one in my Bike! ;) Still going to be mental in a Dax though. Have a look at holeshot racing. They do the 350bhp kit with turbo. Might have a look meself! LOL Matt |

I don't know a huge amount about the Dax Rush myself, but there are a couple around the sprint scene, including the car featured in CCC a while back (which is a Holeshot turbo Hayabusa powered Rush) and an interesting 4WD cosworth turbo version.
The Hayabusa car is awesome, and has already set FTDs (fastest time of day) about the place, even beating winged single seaters! Although this has a lot to do with the driver, as well as the car (IMHO) The 4WD car is pretty much the fastest thing I have seen off the line at sprint meetings. Unfortunately the sprint meetings I'm involved in are all in the south of the country... |
