All

Apologies if this is in the wrong forum.

Impreza Turbo Wagon MY99 28K miles. Warranty runs out Sep 28th.

Bell & Colvill Subaru are quoting £348 for an extended year. This includes full Subaru breakdown cover.

Would you go for it?

J.

Yes.

Any idea how much replacing a clutch costs?

Mak.

camk 30 August 2002 01:01 PM

but remember they'll only replace a clutch if its faulty, wear and tear is a big get out clause.

Cheers
Cammy

DO IT NOW !

99MY - 50K FsSH, bought warranty, 1 month later new short engine
£2500.

Flat 4x4 30 August 2002 01:28 PM

... at £zero cost to me I should add

nichop 30 August 2002 01:28 PM

Im in the same position and definitely extending. Too many stories of replacement engines ! 4x4, what happened to your's ?

I'm probably going to extend for 2 years. As I recall if you extend warrantly and car hasn't done more than 60000 then you get the full subaru warranty extended. If your car has done more than this then you get 3rd party warranty (and i'm never convinced this is as good as the manuf warranty). It also gets more expensive.

wildp 30 August 2002 01:34 PM

Sounds expensive. Are you sure that's only for one year and not two? I've just extended the warranty on my MY99 turbo for £250 direct with Subaru. The only stipulation is that I don't go over 60k.

Chrisgr31 30 August 2002 02:11 PM

Don't go over 60K? Anyway want to swap their low mileage car for a while? Mine is only 15 months old and has already done 36,000!

Which dealer did you go through or do you have national contact number?

"Crunch crunch clatter clatter kechoing blat blat clatter clatter,
oh-feck, good afternoon is that Mondial Subaru assist?"

..is pretty much what happened to mine

Just serviced, 15/50 motorsport oil, FsSH, cooled down after driven hard etc etc - the usual sensible things.

IanW 30 August 2002 02:18 PM

If your car is TOTALLY standard, serviced at all the relevant intervals, and has a FSSH then do it.

If you have ANY modifications at all then dont bother, IIRC the Warranty is actually through Mondial Assistance.

nichop 30 August 2002 02:20 PM

Sounds healthy :( Bizarre how variable these engines seem to be. Some get really high miles out the them and then others ...

Flat 4x4 30 August 2002 02:24 PM

Never had a problem with 3 previous Subarus - one is still going with 170k on it.

Luck of the draw, insurance policies etc etc

I didn't go to the dealer for this warranty. I received a letter from Subaru a month before the 3 year warranty expired. You also get a Thomas Cook holiday voucher for £150 when you extend. The warranty has the identical level of cover.

Cheers Wildp :)

I got a letter too, but from the dealer.

J.

SCOSaltire 30 August 2002 04:53 PM

i got a letter from both dealer and subaru...

id go for 2 years unlimited milage... but... i intend to but an exhaust on ;)

so not sure what to do...

its a Subaru New Car Extended Warranty as far as i remember...
is this def not through Subaru?

guess a decatted DP renders warranty null and void...
hmmmmmm big gamble?

fdpxfunix 30 August 2002 05:05 PM

Chaps

My cars 'manufactures' warranty ran out in March, but as I bought the car is September last year ... the dealer gave me a 6 month top up, to make up a year from the point of sale.

I presume the extened warranty I'm now being offered is not a 'new car' extended warranty.

Me think a phone call is in order.

J.
