Just thought I'd let everyone know that my car successfully passed the MOT emmissions tests with just the std OEM centre pipe (with CAT).

It's an MY99 RB5 with TSL downpipe and STI backbox.

Here's a copy of the report showing my results

Passed easily :)

Certainly did :D

And we didn't even need to do anything mental to warm the CAT up. It was on cold ;), then idled for 10mins and hey presto a pass.

I'm well chuffed :D

Ozzy: are you still on the standard ECU ?

I'm changing my one soon and had some questions about emissions

Hi Craig,

Yeah, I'm still on a std AE801 ECU. I'll be going for a Tek3 soon (from the good Dr Banks) and I'm sure John would/could remap to take into account emmissions.

What questions do you have?

The fuelling can be easily altered/customised and this is done at certain rev/loads levels to make the car run more efficiently.

AFAIK, John doesn't changes the fuelling at the slow/fast idle levels so the MOT emmissions should still be the same.

As you can see from my results, the car passed very easily. I arrived at the testing station with my TSL centre on the car. The std OEM one was put on, then the emmissions tests carried out.

The CAT is 3 years old, so the results may vary depending on the age/condition of the centre pipe.

Certainly on MY99/MY00, I don't think the MOT is anything to worry about (STI's might be a whole different ball game).

Several Ecutek cars have passed MOTs. None have failed because of mapping issues AFAIK.

My car is soon to get a Tek ECU fitted and it was just an interest more than anything about the emissions. It's good to hear that the car passed with the DP done :). Next MOT is in march so still got a while with the full decat :)

My car failed the emissions test just because the joint between the centre section & backbox was blowing (fitted it myself). The car is a MY 97 and had standard DP & centre section.

The MOT place fitted the backbox properly ;) and it passed.

Gone for full decat now though :D
