Forecourt price for a 96P std turbo which cost new £18418 is around 11 grand, though the mileage you've quoted is slightly above average. I think the McRae new was just under 23 grand.

The price looks way too expensive. At the end of the day its a five year old car. The Scoob has been updated every year since. I would guess at the real value of the car being between £10000-£11000 if she really wants this one.

As Chiark says - look out for a MY00 at similar money. Alternatively you can get an brand new EU Import MY01 WRX for around £17000.

Cheers,

Ian.

After driving my wrx, a friend of mine has decided that she must have one. She is currently looking at an, aug 96 series Mc Rae which has had the Prodrive engine management conversion, with air filter and silencer box, this was carried out at Prodrive not at the main dealer, 54k, two previous owners, looks tidy, drives well, although collectable and with all right bits on it is £14995 at main dealer to much? your opinions greatly appreciated, theres nothing worse than feeling like you have paid to much!!

There's one at my local dealer cheaper than that - KT Green of Otley, tel 0113 284 3535.

Don't know details - phone them for more. It looked a minter, so it may be worth travelling for if you're set on a McCrash.

You can get a much newer car for the same money if you don't want the McRae... For example, my MY00 was 16k new (from Holland), and a few people have sold their imports at around that level after a year.

The series Mcrea was 23,995 new and 25,995 with the added extras.

Tell your friend if she is interested I am selling my Series Mcrea which was one of the dearer ones, with the extra pack which includes sunroof, quick shift, high rise spoiler, cream leather interior, Induction kit and Full Magnes exhaust system, some of which I have added since owning my car.

It is cheaper than the one you have mentioned also.

Way over the top IMO. A dealer I visited offered eight n a half to someone for a std McR with 32K, no prodrive tho'.

If you have that budget go for a later model. If it must be Limited Edition a little bit of haggling would get a 98 Terzo with 30k for that. Benifits from improved interior and A/c as std.

Also Darren is about to sell his full Pro Drive spec mota less than that, or speak to Peter and bank the surplus.

Way over the top IMO. I paid £12750 for my 96 Series McRae a year ago from a main dealers, recently sold it for £10000. Same mileage and spec. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif
