MY AIR CONDITIONING STOPPED WORKING OVERNIGHT AND HAVE NOW BEEN TOLD THE COMPRESSOR UNIT HAS GONE.THE CAR IS ONLY SIX WEEKS OUT OF WARRENTY AND ONLY COVERED 32,000 MILES, BUT MAIN DEALER DOESNT WANT TO KNOW.ANYBODY KNOW BEST PLACE TO GET A REPLACEMENT OR IF THEY CAN BE REPAIRED.

Try taking it to an air-con specialist there are loads in the yellow pages and let them look at it, as it could only need a re-gas for £50-100, it sounds like the main dealer has £ signs flashing in there eyes especially having only done 30K miles.... A tip it to turn your air con on every month for a short period to keep it in good running condition..

what you could try is this near the bulkhead on the left hand side is a shiny metal tube with a spy glass in the top and an electrical plug on the top . pull the plug off start the car and switch the air con on, then bridge the terminals in the plug with a split pin or something if the compressor kicks in and starts to turn it's just low on gas. if the compressor has gone it will make funny noises like the bearing has failed. dont leave it running to long though with a split pin in the terminals as by doing this you by pass the safty cut out side of the air con which prevents it running with no gas in it. just do it long enough to hear what the compressor sounds like.
