Who did you use for the mail order ?

ChrisB 23 August 2002 12:21 AM

Major thumbs up for the older GS-D2 from me

scooby2000 23 August 2002 12:47 AM

My Tyres are doing them for £84.80 ea so that would work out at £ 339.20 for 4 . I will be getting some soon and i know where i'm going to get them they seem the lowest i've seen

Haggistrap 23 August 2002 06:43 PM

I colud not find them on mytyres.com search??, so I mailed steve @ mainmanning@hotmail.com and he sorted the deal out, they are due to come early next week.

Have had the F1 GS D3 put on mine ( RB5 ) since Wednesday and i can honestly say i have never been so impressed by a tyre. It completely outclasses the P Zeros that i had on their and i have only driven them in the dry so far, although it is now raining and i will be venturing out after the Rallye on C4!
The grip seems to be greater and there seems to be less road noise. Heres hoping for better things in the rain and i know just the place to try!

BigMike

Can you post again when you've tried the F1s for a while - I have Pzeros and have always found them Ok but will either go for F1s or the Michelin Exaltos (scores match the F1) next time.

I have a set on STi @ £78 per corner, best tyres I've ever had.

Had them on for 3-4000 miles now. Replaced S02's.
Very quiet, smooth, excellent in the wet, just as good in the dry.
Took about 1000 miles to scrub in but they keep getting better.

The Boy 28 August 2002 11:06 AM

Do take a while to scrub in but very good tyre IMO ( F1 DS-G3 ) Done about 8000 miles on them.

ProperCharlie 28 August 2002 11:16 AM

What would you say is realistic life for a set of tyres? 10,000 miles? any advance on that? I'm talking about road use rather than track days.

Thanks.

Charlie.

smanning 28 August 2002 01:35 PM

you should get loads more miles than 10000 unless you are hard on them.

if you rotate the backs to the fronts every 5000 miles and dont tear around every roundabout then you could get 15000 miles out of a set of f1's, but I know toyo's are a lot softer so you may be looking at 12000 out of them. Having said that you can do a set on one trackday if you are hard enough!!!

can not fault the f1s making life a little dull though in the wet on roundabouts but far better than the p zeros

ChrisB 02 September 2002 09:25 PM

My F1 GS-D2 slide lovely in the dry. Hence the well worn shoulder on the front pax side

Done about 15k miles on them now and then rears are in very good shape.

GS D3s are great and won the Evo magazine's tyre test (the top eight manufacturers), they are very progressive on the limit and very easy to hang the back end on with great control, slightly less hard wearing than the GS D2s but worth it, mine cost £400 for a set of 205x16s LUV EM, BUY A SET NOW!
