so far i've modded my MY99UK Turbo to the spec where it should have flameouts, but all i get are snap, crackle and pops.. :( - what else do i need to do to get a BBQ going (apart from getting a 8ft flameout kit:rolleyes:)???

mods so far:
ITG Panel Filter
Full De-Cat
Dawes
Forge DV

FASTER MIKE!! 22 August 2002 09:30 PM

induction kit?if that fails then its anti-lag :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
regards mike

buzzerboyroy 22 August 2002 09:40 PM

what a man,hahahahahaha
you will probably have to fit a anti lag kit .
i managed to get flames from my mini cooper rally car exhaust and managed to impress quite a few people with it,especially when driving at night its realy cool ,best of luck,ps an anti lag kit ent cheap!!!!!!

WRX SCOOBY 22 August 2002 10:03 PM

how much would a ant lag be for a 94 wrx

buzzerboyroy 22 August 2002 10:37 PM

i havent a clue,probably a grand or so!!
try talking to a rally car specialist, d.o.m.e. motorsport engineering in bromsgrove may be able to help,http://www.domemsport.co.uk/index.html
but be warned dont expect to get many miles per gallon either as it uses a fifth injector mounted onto your turbo(i think, dont quote me on this)and squirts petrol onto the turbine in the turbo making it spin all the while, the petrol vapor cant be exhausted fast enough therfore egnights by the turbo and the vaporor flame goes down the exhaust pipe making a nice flame, loud bang, pop, whezing noise and glowing exhaust pipe
as i say dont quote me on this its what ive been told by a rally car mechanic i know....roy

snowcrash 22 August 2002 11:38 PM

yeah - i don't want to go down the anti-lag route as it means lot's of knackered turbos :( - Im guessing i will have to get an induction kit :) - but i've heard these **** up maf sensors for a passtime :(

KNOWLESY 3 23 August 2002 01:50 AM

is your DV a vent to atmosphere? If it has got one bounce off the rev limiter or lift off at 6k rpm completely

If not fit a flamer kit from St Albans car Clinic !!

IanW 23 August 2002 01:57 AM

I've got a K&N 57i Induction Kit on my MY00 and have no problems with my MAF sensor.

snowcrash 24 August 2002 12:12 AM

yeah its a forge VTA - i've hit the limiter in many gears repeatedily all i get are LOUD bangs (almost explosions sounding) but no flames :(

maybe i will have to got down the induction kit route, certainly cheaper than a mo-tec and a new turbo every other month...

RichiW 24 August 2002 07:41 AM

Get the exhaust really hot too, that helps.

Rich :)

HKSubaru 24 August 2002 03:05 PM

what else would i need to make flames come out?

full de-cat system ss dp magnex mid ss b/b
hks mushroom.

snowcrash 24 August 2002 04:04 PM

yeah - im sure after 1hr of semi-hard driving should be enough for flames, it's wierd, it start's popping instantly on turn on, but never gets flames :(

snowcrash 24 August 2002 04:06 PM

hksubaru - supposidly all you need extra is a VTA Dump Valve (i have a forge) - although i still haven't had any flame outs - but the VTA in all fairness is the dogs :D

R 5C0DBY 24 August 2002 06:43 PM

ive got a full ss zorst,k&n induction kit and baileys d/v and have been told i get flames on a regular basis! http://www.stopstart.fsnet.co.uk/smilie/smokin.gif

Moles Dad 25 August 2002 11:00 AM

Snowcrash, try this one....driving along in 4th gear at about 50 or 60 mph, then quickly hit the clutch and give the accelerator a 'stab' as you drop down to 3rd....should be a pop and a flame :)

Practice it, it should flame on demand as you are sending excess fuel into the zorst!

Good luck :D

FASTER MIKE!! 26 August 2002 11:05 PM

just fitted a vta dump valve and i`m getting a lot of bangs like small explosions, have to get someone to follow me to see if i`m falming :D:D:D:D:D
made a dog yelp on friday when i was sat at traffic lights and bliped the throtal(sp) :D did mean to either

HKSubaru 26 August 2002 11:56 PM

just go on a dark country road and you will see.

X SOOOBY 27 August 2002 08:21 AM

to get flameouts you need the car to be running very rich it may be you are running lean so go to a specialish and see how the mixture is

i dont know if i am talking rubbish but if you have an induction kit fitted you get more air going into the engine thus a leaner mixture

i have fitted

tec2.5
decat
k&n induction with cold air kit going into the inner wing
forge dump valve

and i do get flames allthough not all the time

but if you really want flames get a flamer kit have to say i have seen one and it really dose work very well

pmortlock 28 August 2002 12:24 AM

have a look for the fiat panda half way down the page for some proper flameouts. this car is awesome by the way!

here

Si

snowcrash 29 August 2002 07:58 PM

i can get it to pop all the time on command (around 3000rpm - tapping the accelerator).

I know someone else with a tek2.5 and that backfires... the induction kit is a different matter, techincally i thought that they make the car run lean...? so why do they make em backfire? - is it cause it's running lean, therefore dumps the rest of the fuel out of the back???

Andy @ Frogford 30 August 2002 08:54 PM

Hiya dont know if anyone see the Panda at www.frogfordmotorsport.co.uk (Car Gallery) but my cossie (yea I know the arch enemy to u Scooby owners)now has the flame kit. Go to Frogford and see for ya selves :-)

pmortlock 01 September 2002 12:29 PM

andys cossie does have enormous flameouts, here it is here this is one seriously fast cossie btw

HKSubaru 12 September 2002 07:06 PM

still no flames i think. lot of pops.

snowcrash 28 September 2002 07:15 PM

apparently Turboteeth was following me back earlier and when i hit the limiter it flamed :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

wicked :D

(only difference to earlier is it is now on Super Unleaded and has had an ECU reset :))

Andy @ Frogford 28 September 2002 07:37 PM

The flame kit fitted to the panda and the cossie at www.frogfordmotorsport.co.uk flames on command (and at idle to) so therz no need to rev the wotsits off ya pride 'n' joy to get flames !

JamieMacdonald 01 October 2002 12:14 AM

Grrrr, u lot are a bad influence! I just tried the bounce off rev-limiter thing on the way from work 'a few times' as it wasn't popping (Full decat/Bailey VTA/K+N panel filter) and I burst a bl00dy hose! It's the one from the header tank to the turbo
Maybe I didn't get the exhauast hot enough, I only gave it 10 mins to warm up before I tried it
Oh well off to dealer tomorrow unless anyone knows where you can get these cheaper? I think it will last a while as it only a pin-prick hole, I'll just have to take it easy from now on :(

Damn you all ;)
