Obviously scooby owners are more interested in polishing than driving.
Wax Wizard has more response to a group sale than this.

COME ON THERE MUST BE SOME *DRIVERS* OUT THERE.

My only interest is I don't get on track if we don't get 40

feel free to flame, feeling really miffed

Agree mate theres a group buy on a spoiler.
:) give them something to polish.:)

Fantom 22 August 2002 04:51 PM

I wanna drive, but unfortunately I don't know anyone with a scooby yet and I'm not going up there on my own!!!
Next year I'll put my scooby on the track

Mo 22 August 2002 04:57 PM

To be quite frank, it's cr@p

I've been the last two years and been on track both times.

The 15 minute sessions they advertise usually last 10max and 1 session only managed 5 minutes before they pulled us all in.

The actual track sessions are like a precession. On previous occasions they've had 40 (IIRC) on track in such a limited time, it just doesn't work. With that amount of traffic, and everyone being of varying ability, you cannot overtake safely so you end up playing follow my leader. I've also experienced someone come up the inside and out brake me just to get passed probably so he can go home and tell all his mates how many he passed today - tw@t.

Take your polish, show your car off and go and oogle at the models, if you want to drive your car on track in a safe and professional environment - stay away.

Fat Boy 22 August 2002 05:03 PM

Max power type toss.

If you want to go on track go on one of the SIDC days, rather than faffing about with the backwards baseball cap knuckle draggers all day in return for 10 mins on track procession.IMHO

uxg 22 August 2002 05:15 PM

I will probably be going along with a few other jap car enthusiats of varying maques but won't be going on track as I have heard the actual track stuff is crap.

dodo 22 August 2002 05:29 PM

Fair comment guys

Just our club go to the trouble of getting us on track for £30 quid and no one supports it.

Seems a shame thay's all

Fat Boy 22 August 2002 05:35 PM

Shame for those chaps like yourself who want to go on it but also for Pete/Stef etc.. who got jumped on by everyone who demanded SIDC made an appearance - where have they all gone?

I have supported several club days, personally just dont like these cruise type days and had fun on silverstone GP circuit a few weeks ago. I think the Donington Day sounded more like it, but was on hols.

whatsisname 22 August 2002 08:07 PM

You can't expect a lot for £30
15 min sounds like a bargain to me

whatsisname 22 August 2002 10:00 PM

I agree

ADP 22 August 2002 10:27 PM

I was one of "the people who replied to the email saying yes I wanted track time" I've never been to TRAX before btw.

However after doing this I then read the threads - some reponses were from people I know quite well, so I respect their past experience of the event.

The overall feeling seems to be that the track time can be some or all of the following:

- too many people on track at once
- too shorter sessions possibly due to people crashing(this is from peoples past experience)
- insurance is 150 quid for a very short session thus making it a very expensive day out(if you decide to insure your car that is)

-----------------

It is this kind of response from others that has now left me feeling I dont want to take the track time. Im not having a go, because its good that people give honest responses to allow me to make an informed decision.

But the "general" feeling amongst people seems to be that the trax track time is not a good thing, and the poor response seems to reflect this.

I want to support the club, but obviously am not prepared to throw money at something that I may later regret doing for financial or other reasons.

lol

who went to TRAX last year?
4 (FOUR) Scooby track sessions..2 novice...2 experianced sessions...all were full....ppl wanted to be on a waiting list to get on them.
Club stand was OVER FLOWING!!!!

whats happened this year then?
wheres everyone gone........SIDC Should have posted earlier...(i even asked about it on the SIDC BBS in feb!)
No Responce.

3 weeks before, we're asked!!!
if i knew SIDC wern't doing track time...i'd have booked DIRECT Track time with TRAX...i'm not bothered if a few other makes are out with me!

something not right somehow!!

15min session at the SIDC National day was full!! £25!!!
was there any trouble in that 15mins????? NO!!

so why do you think Trax should be any differant!?

think SIDC members a wash out..shame on you!

what you put i to the club you get out!!

because the 20 min session was toooooooooooo dangerous:eek: it was a race :( last year gave one session away as a friend lost out due to crash:( also the SUbaru/ IM clamp down on trackdays and warrentee issuses have also played a part:(:(

tONY

DocJock 23 August 2002 08:05 AM

I agree with Tony

Having done the tracktime last 2 years I feel it's a waste of time/money as far a track experience goes if you are used to SIDC trackdays.
If you've never been on track before it is probably well worth the money.

Floyd 23 August 2002 08:39 AM

If the weather is good it's a nice day out at Trax. I just have to think carefully about the amount of time I get on track. The last time I'd paid for insurance and track time only to get it stopped, due to some silly mare trashing her scoob into the gravel pit on the 2nd or 3rd lap. The other session was nearly stopped as well due to a well known member taking a detour IIRC. This was in 2000 btw.

I want to do this year but I'm worried about it happening again...

Sorry, not me either :(

I have some commitments that w/end, but tbh I probably wouldn't have gone for it anyway. I have to severely ration my track play atm :( & I'd prefer to use it on some other longer event at a twistier circuit where I can get some advantage over P1s etc :D

National Day short sesh was great :D

:)

Fantom 23 August 2002 09:05 AM

Would love to dodo, but I'll even have trouble getting a passenger!
I'll leave it for this year, but next year I'll come down.
