Hi there. New to scoobynet. Have a question that I would like some advice on. I have a MY 2001 WRX. Looking to upgrade the performance without invalidating the warrantee. Thinking about the PPP, can anyone tell is it worth the money etc. Also looking at the quick shift - does this make any not noticeable difference?
Apologies if this subject has been done to death already |
I don't have a 2001 so am not fully qualified to answer but yes, it has been done to death.
Basically, most people find the WRX too 'slow' if they have owned a previous model Turbo, because of the extra weight & refinement. The 245bhp of the PPP improves the power to weight to similar to the older model, and most people are happy with it. The extra torque also improves the mid-range. From what I've read, if your car is under warranty (ie a UK model) then it is both the safest and most expensive way to get extra power while keeping your warranty. A lot of people would argue that other mods such as de-catting the exhaust would give you similar gains - but what about the warranty? In my opinion it comes down to if you can afford to PPP'it. |
Thanks for responding to the question. As the car is UK Spec (totally unmodified) and still pretty new I think I'll go for the PPP. More than happy with the cars performance. The last car I owned was Saab 900s which was very sluggish compared to the WRX.

I have a MY01 PPP and it is awesome!
Mail me for more info. Mak. |
I have a MY01 with PPP, also quick shift. Both are well worth it. The PPP really boosts the mid range and the prodrive back box sounds gorgeous. The quick shift feels really nice, but makes the change a little more notchy. Also had prodrive springs fitted, makes the car a lot meaner looking and doesnt make the ride to much firmer.
Go for it!!! |
