Got back last night from a good trip down to Godspeed in Bridgend to have my 335 kit fitted.

Godspeed operate from a small unit on an industrial estate on the edge of Bridgend and Ian and Rich are top blokes. After a good chat and a cuppa they got to work and presented me with the two huge dinnerplates that are my new front brakes... blimey theyre huge!

Fitting as always is pretty simple when done by professionals and this was no exception, Its quite time consuming what with splitting calipers etc punctuated by cups of tea, good banter and the local lads popping by - making for a good few hours.

I had the Dot 5.1 fluid and the braided hoses at the same time and even when bleeding I could tell my brakes were feeling much better.

After a short road test and a trip to the local tyre place (where they all came out of the lunch room to look at the huge brakes!) to shift my wheel weights I was on my way. So far I havent been able to use the brakes in anger yet as im still bedding them in but the inital bite and instant stoppping of even slight applications of the pedal make me think this is gonna be a great setup.

I heartily recomend a trip down to have these units fitted by Godspeed as they really know what they are doing and absolutely want the kits to be right for each person.

If youre reading this Ian - Cheers mate.

Jon.
PS. Ive no tie up with Godspeed etc just a satisified customer.

Excellent brakes :) We got the 308's so they'd fit under the 16's too....

Comment from my husband last night "do you have to test the brakes on every corner, you're making me feel sick!" ;):D:cool:

Thanks Ian :D Btw, also problem solved, nice and quiet now :)

Yeah - and keep it quiet dear - you didn't notice either! :D

For everyone else - it was replaced with another groovy locking wheel nut this morning! :)

I can hardly wait. We're booked in for the full Godspeed treatment on Monday. Front kit from the group buy and rears at the same time too.

What was the problem with the wheel weights, is this something I need to consider for mondays trip??

The wheel weights can foul on the caliper (335mm kit) if they are on the outer edge behind the spokes. If they're positioned on the rim away from the spokes they should be OK:)

Enjoy:D

Iain.

*EDIT* So it makes sense!!

I just got the angle grinder out and removed the offending bit of caliper (very small amount and safe as the fluid path is nowhere near this part of the caliper). as my balancing people could'nt get a nice balance if they moved the weights inwards, this was on OZ P1 wheels.

Ray, do you have a before and after pic of where you ground off the caliper as I cant get a good balance on my wheels at the mo...?

Still bedding the brakes but they are very very strong! :-)

AndrewC 31 August 2002 08:31 PM

Ian,

As you promised my kit turned up yesterday, fitted this morning, no problems whatsoever (despite me thinking several times 'thats not going to fit in there!).

Initial impression are that the pedal feels really solid and that much less pressure is need to stop the car than before.

ozzy it takes ages i had to wait about 8 weeks for mine looks good and now i've changed the pads stops even better.

LoFi 01 September 2002 09:25 PM

with the 325 kit do you need new calipers, some of the pics seem to show the OEM 4 pots? Anyone willing to email me how much they paid and for what? Also where is Godspeed located in case I need fitting? The web site doesn't give an address.

Piers LoFi

Godspeed Brakes 02 September 2002 08:23 AM

LoFi , The kit to use with the standard Subaru 4 pot calipers is our 335mm kit , The complete kit is £575 plus £10 delivery , or we can fit it for you and we are based in Bridgend , South Wales , Hope this helps , Ian

LoFi 02 September 2002 05:53 PM

Ian, thanks for the reply. Does the kit include uprated brake hoses? If not, how much r they and how much do you charge for fitting?

Piers LoFi
(email me as per profile if you'd prefer)

Godspeed Brakes 02 September 2002 06:10 PM

LoFi , The braided hose kits are £60 and fitting the 335mm kit is £95 which includeds Dot 5:1 fluid .
