I was going to ask what a GATSO is - but an internet search engine gave me the following

Neil Smalley 14 July 2001 06:35 AM

Just wanted to point out, in case people got the wrong end. That I did'nt go out mangling Gatso's and it's not my website.

Should I ever lose my sense of social behavoir and wanted to go out to trash a speed camera, I'd be much more subtle.

Turbo_Six 14 July 2001 08:41 PM

It mentioned there that GATSOs work at "all speeds up to 155 mph". Is this anything to do with the 155mph limiters fitted by BMW, Mercedes etc? a case of "you stay within detectable speeds, and we'll let you keep the autobahns?"

Neil Smalley 14 July 2001 10:07 PM

No, at 155Mph the gatso will only be able to take 1 photo of you, as you will be out of range by the time the second photo is taken. They need 2 photo's to do you. In case you are wondering I hear newer Gatso's work up to speeds of 170Mph+

polarbearit 14 July 2001 11:14 PM

I believe the 1st gatso's didn't work above 155 mpg for the above reasons, but have been improved (ie can take pics quicker) to about 300 mph now (just incase you are taking Thrust SSC out for a burn!)
