hmmmmmm.......My brother currently has a Honda CRX ans is talking about buying an Alfa Romeo Spider :( Im trying to talk him out of it because they are to expensive for what they are! We saw a 98R reg Black Spider Lusso and it was £10,000.
Personally id spend £9,000 on a V reg Ford Cougar or £10,000 on an Audi Convertible that we saw. Opinions please? |
I wouldn't go for a Cougar. It's just a Mondeo with a shellsuit just as a Calibra is Cavalier.

COUGAR??!?!?!?!
Sorry for the dramatics, but you may as well get a V6 Probe and spend the rest on a lobotomy... Audi convertible, now that's a tasty motor. They're very nice, bulletproof, reliable, nice inside. Everything a Cougar isn't. All IMHO obviously! Beef |
Dont touch either IMHO, the Cougar was by far the lowest selling car in the UK last year apparently - for a reason, they are crap!
Think Capri? As for the Alfa, 10k isnt alot for a nice little sporty car but I have had nothing but trouble with Alfs's, best left well alone! Just my 2p worth. |
Mo-in-law has a Alfa GTV that is on an R plate (actually its not it has a private plate) and she loves it.
It has done about 70k now, and i am trying to persuade her to flog it as its starting to go wrong alot, New exhaust, clutch cylinder, 2nd aircon unit, alarm all gone wrong and had to be replaced in the last 6 months and it is costly. Tell yer brother to go for a good example of an Integra R. Now theres a car i would pay 10k for !! Dave |
i was considering the GTV 3.0 v6, its like mini ferrari, bad residuals tho :(

£10k does sound a bit expensive for an 5 year old spider.
The ST24 is the same car as the V6 cougar, is lighter, handles better and is loads cheaper. On the Alfa front, dont believe all the horror stories. Mine is coming up to a year old now and it has never been back to the dealers since I picked it up. :) No rattles or squeeks either. Find out all you need to know on the "Forums" at www.alfaowner.com/alfaowner Edited to add, Dealers are crap and expensive. If its out of warrenty I would find a specialist.
