Have only had car about 3 weeks but decided it definately needs lowering a little, gap between wheels and arches is just too great.

Can I get away with lowering springs only or should I also uprate the dampers etc.

Have seen a lot of people use Eibachs, any views and comments on these. If they're any good, how much should I be paying and where can I get them fitted in Herts/London area.

Most people do buy the Eibachs which should cost around the £150 mark.Subaru sell the Prodrive springs which from what I've heard are built by Eibach anyway. (These are £165 plus VAT) I have the latter sitting in my garage waiting to be fitted when my 15k service is done at the dealer. (Only bought em cos the dealer owed me some money which they said they'd discount off parts or service!) Can't wait to get em fitted to be honest cos if you combine this with a geometry change,the handling of the car is apparently,"transformed".....
Scoobysport should be able to source/fit them for you!

P.S: You can upgrade the dampers if you wish,but no real need when fitting the springs as they work perfectly well with the standard dampers!!! :)

Unless Pete has very recently changed his view he neither Supplies or Fits Eibach[or any other] Springs

He does however fit LEDA [different league so I'm told]

Had eibachs and geometry (laser alignment) done yesterday at TSL, 320mile round trip and very worth it. Handling is transformed, the car sits slightly lower and the ride is slightly more compliant. Amazing difference to handling. Not just cornering but gives more confidence under braking. Highly recommended. And as everyone says the guys at TSL were great.

I had the Prodrive springs fitted to a my01 WRX, on smooth roads, they were ace, but on rough roads it felt like the springs and dampers were not complimenting each other?:confused:

I had my Prodrive springs/geometry settings done on friday as well as my 15k service on my MY01. (Also had goodridge brake hoses/DOT 5 fitted which give more of a 'bite' when braking)
All I can say is that the car is soooo much better at handling now.There is no real difference in my opinion,in the way the car rides but come into a bend and a lot of bodyroll has now been illiminated.The car is fantastic.Driving on various roads,the steering feels more 'solid' and secure under braking........
A must if you can get it done and sooo much cheaper than having the Leda fitted!!!!! :D:D:D

If you've got the cash - Leda is fantastic. I've been in several cars (both classic and new shape) and it transforms both.

On the MY01, you are starting with a much stiffer chassis, so fitting Eibach's does do wonders for the handling (as long as you get the geometry sorted out as well). Goto one of the better known places to get this done - it is worth it. TSL has already been mentioned, my Eibachs were fitted and the geometry done at Powerstation - equally recommended.

Pros - reduced ride height - looks better (see pic below)
- improved handling
- less body roll

Cons - firmer ride
- can be unsettled by very rough roads

If you happy to live with the firmer ride (mine is also on 18" wheels, so it is more obvious), then get them done.

The Prodrive springs are also made by Eibach, but are not as firm as the normal 'grey' Eibachs that you can get. I believe TSL have cars with both fitted, so it might be worth a trip to test them and see which you prefer.

By how much is the car lowered with the Eibach and Prodrive kits? Are there different kits available with different drops?

I think Eibachs drop the height by roughly 20mm. Prodrive is about the same.

Looks like the Eibachs and Bumpsteer/Geometry set up is the way to go.

Just a shame that Powerstation and TSL are so bloody far away, can't sneek out for an hour when the other half's asleep to get it done ;)

where did you get that fantastic spoiler from, really transforms the car. I've been trying to get a UK300 spoiler but after seeing one change hands for £150 I'm reluctant to pay too much more than that and I keep missing out.

Think I might be better off saving up a bit more and getting something newer, not to mention bigger :D

The spoiler is from Rallytech which I believe also supply the likes of DR Motorsport. Mine was fitted and painted by Cheam Motors (who also used to use this spoiler on their own MY01 special edition 'San Remo'). Cost would be around £500 painted.

If you are going to go to someone like TSL, have a look at their spoilers which are also very nice :)

Just to be a dimwit, the cost of the subaru/prodrive springs is that per corner or all in?? £165 plus vat for all 4 seems ok, but they can shuv it if its per corner???
