Last night driving home from work in 60 limit and doing 55 someone 4 cars up decides they are going to do an emergency stop and turn right at the last minute.

Brakes on and get the abs drone, you know the one i mean when braking from high speed. Well this would not have been a problem had it not been for the tit in the saxo that was trying to cadge a lift in the boot.

The nose of his car dived and the back end swerved so much i just though oh **** another scoob written off. anyway i lifted off brake and went to the right and then stamped on the brakes again to give him a chance to stop. good 50/50 choice as he just managed to stop.gulp:eek:

phew no damage done and i stopped about an inch short of the car in front.

did he learn his lesson, did he fcuk, as he proceed to then be determined to pass the scoob. he did eventually when we came to dual carriageway coming out of 40mph village. I went upto 70 and he came past later at about 85/90.

Silly **** did not see traffic cop 4 cars back before dual carriageway, hence me not going more than 70, but did they stop him for speeding, no. Did they stop him for nearly causing an accident when he stamped on brakes and the coppers nearly went into the back of him, no!

All they did was give me a very nasty look as they drove past me.

Oh well life goes on as they say. No doubt they will be sat there waiting in the blind layby tonight.

I was taught something a while ago that also helps in similar situations. If you are stationary, always leave enough gap to the car in front so you can easily exit your space, if an accident is hurtling towards the back of you.

Was a passenger in a car that was hit, years ago, by a woman who was window shopping whilst driving down Potters Bar high street. We were tight to the car in front and just had to sit there and watch in the mirrors as she rammed into the back of us.

At least he got away with speeding..

I know what you mean about leaving the gap Pete. My mum and dad live on one of main coast roads to bridlington. Mega queues on weekends with a blind crest approach a roundabout with stationary cars. Cars approaching behind at silly speeds(road is about 1.5 miles long and has a downhill bit for 1st 200 yards to help them get their speed up).

You just sit there and prey sometimes if you are at the back. Always leave plenty of distance and in 1st gear with clutch just biting, ready to shoot out the way.

I dont know about being know, i know i am round where i live which is why i dont chance it now(unless its late at night:D). Grown up from driving foot to floor all the time.

Plus if you dont drive flat out all the time you feel the benfit of the performance when you really need it.

Recently I was driving in heavy but fast moving traffic on the M25 with a Saxo very close behind me. As always I was keeping an eye out several cars in front to see what was going on, when they started braking, albeit fairly gently. However the idiot in front of me decided to slam on his anchors as if going for a full emergency stop!

I had not choice but to slam on my brakes and feel the ABS cut in whilst watching in my rear view mirror to see if the Saxo would hit my boot! What I saw was clouds of tyre smoke from the Saxo and rthe cars behind him, however fortunately a gap appeared into the middle lane and the Saxo switched into there stopping alongside me, and leaving everyone behind him room to stop.

The Saxo driver looked apologetically at me! The car in front of me then decided that perhaps he had stopped far too quickly and didn't need to leave 100 metres between him and the car in front so moved up. Quite why he hadn't slowed slightly less dramatically in the first place I'll never know. Who knows if their was shunt several hundred yards back as a result of this idiot!

Some people only know how to use the brake in 2 ways

Foot off or foot to the floor(if they can press it hard enough)

You can see the ones on the road, you know the ones, Nose of car in the air, Nose of car scraping tarmac,Nose of car in the air, Nose of car scraping tarmac,Nose of car in the air, Nose of car scraping tarmac,Nose of car in the air, Nose of car scraping tarmac,etc etc....

I hate tailgaters.. I really do not see what they gain by it..

but there are so many in green the red is a refreshing change!

Wheels looks superb too, is the ride much worse?

I have 17s and thought they would be harsh but if anything were better than the 16s I had previous..

Last time i got stopped for speeding was on this road in my 106gti, 15 miles racing with an unmarked T5, bugger! When he got at 95 in 60 limit, he said "been after this car for a while now, private number isnt it" oh **** big fine and ban and points.close eyes. However, due to you going down to 40 in the 40 limits i will let you off and gave me 3 points and £40 fine.

JGM they are so predictable where i live, they have even followed me home, watched me get out of car in suit with briefcase and walk to house, then ask me where and who registered keeper is.

Go figure???

think maybe the saxo driver should be asaxonated??
Glad you avoided the shunt. Another good tip I was given is when sat waitng to turn right on the carrigeway/filter lane, keep your wheels facing forwards, otherwise if you have a rear shunt it can push you into the on coming traffic!! just a thought

I had a similar thing on the motorway a few months ago, outside lane just into three figures, clk in front about 2 cars length away. came over the crest of a hill and the sun is blinding, everyone else put down sunvisors, this prat slammed his brakes on and came right down to about 40, no cars in front, had to hit the brakes, swerve into inside lane to avoid him. Partly myself to blame for not reacting quick enough but also unncessary action by the merc which could have caused a nasty smash.

upgrades brakes all round the week after!!!

One thing I learnt is to always have an escape route, this can be leaving enough gap to the car in front in stationary trafic so that if it breaks down, but also on dual carriageway or motorway, always having an escape route to the outside lane when overtaking, so if overtaking in the middle, time it so that there is a parallel gap in the third lane in case u need to pull out.

I had one this morning - coming into Slough, exit roundabout follwoing red escort onto dual carriageway (70 limit). There is a truck in front, so we both pull out into the second lane and start to accelerate when Mr Escort suddenly realises he wants to pop into the petrol station - hits the brakes hard then indicates and pulls back into the first lane and off into the garage. Christ - the guy was almost level with the petrol station when he decided to dive in [img]images/smilies/mad.gif[/img] I was just very thankfull for decent brakes on my WRX. Some people really do live on a different planet.

It must be try and cause an accident for P20SPD this week.
This morning little a series merc pulls out of t junction wheelspinning to get infront of 40 ton wagon. I came up to junction and could see i had still room to get out if i booted it.

I did boot it and just as i change from 1st to 2nd and put foot down, silly cow in merc thinks i am too close(about 10 metres from her and we are both accelerating) so she stamps on her fing brakes whilst looking in her rear mirror.

Now sorry but there is no way i am staying behind her when there is a 40ton truck bearing down at 50mph. Enough(just) reaction time to go round her and accelerate away into safety. Leaving her with pi55ed off wagon drive flashing lights.

Before anyone says i should not have pulled out, there was enough room. I do not pull out infront of wagons as my dad drives hgvs and know how peed off he gets when they pull out and then tootle along. I also drive my dads tractor and trailer with circa 15ton on at the weekends and know what its like to have to brake and then proceed to go up through 16 gears. So i dont do it unless i can clear them easy.

Just did not count on silly cow.:D I think i'll drive the wifes jeep for a bit:D:D:D
