Forgot to say the only chance you have for team play is to work with 2 other players and forget about the rest of the team - they can be the bait :)

Best time I had was when my team ambushed 3 players :) We watched them for ages as they crept up the left flank. When they started to move towards our position we unleashed hell of them. Was awesome seeing the surprise in their faces :D

Hi,

I'm going to a work organised paint-balling day in September. :D:D:D. I last went on one of these about 10 years ago. We were pretty successful then. Although the side we were on did not act as a "team", myself and two other mates decided to out flank the opposition on one game and caught them completely by surprise at the rear (oh err musses).

Does anyone have any suggestions for tactics as a team on these things? Any advice you might want to share?

Really looking forward to it. Although the last time I played I could not walk the next day...

MATTeL 07 August 2002 03:19 PM

Everytime I play the tactics are worked out and then as soon as the game starts the tactics are out of the window!

Depends on the games you are playing but the more successful of the teams I played in, broke into small squads.

Main tactic, keep your head down and shoot them first! ;)

sillysi 07 August 2002 03:21 PM

Our favourite tactic is to get two teams one with all our mates on and the other with office staff we don't like and then you can imagine what happens :D

Nimbus 07 August 2002 03:26 PM

I'm going to try and set my self up as commander and split the team into small group (4 each). Each squad is made up of 2 x 2. Some squads attack direct and one each try to out flank.

Some how I think as soon as the shhoting starts it will be every man for himself. The only way to win though is through team play but I doubt that will last long..

I went to a works organised paintball session once except we neglected to tell the regulars there what work we happened to do, and when we declined there nice offer to spit us up so we all had a fair chance at having fun they seemed supprised, after we had completely anhiallated the regulars a few times one of them asked us "are you sure you've never done this before" to which we replied yes of course but however we are all members of the same Infantry platoon and work together all the time. They were not overly impressed. :D:D:D

roadrunner 07 August 2002 03:31 PM

Agree with Mattel - tactics go out of the window as soon as the game starts

Nimbus 07 August 2002 03:40 PM

I think your right. I don't thinks there any point trying to orgonise the whole team. I think I'm just going to select a few "Chosen Men" and do our own thing. You're right. The rest can be bait :D :D :D

astraboy 07 August 2002 03:42 PM

Kill em all and let god sort em out :D
Alternativly when it gets to close quarters, forget the firearms and start pistol whipping people.
;)

BBSparkys_Cupra 07 August 2002 03:48 PM

How about when someone gets close imediately put your hands in the air and shout surrender, then as soon as they lower their gun let rip with the pellets! :D

Mo 07 August 2002 04:05 PM

LMAO @ wurzel :D

Neil Smalley 07 August 2002 04:13 PM

Buy your own visor. The ones supplied are poo and you can't see squat which hampers your chances somewhat.

I did'nt do this when I went and had a crap time simply because I could'nt tell a tree from a soldier :(

Tommy 2000 07 August 2002 04:14 PM

Best tactic: run fast, very fast!! :D

CrisPDuk 07 August 2002 04:27 PM

:D:D@ astra

Nimbus 07 August 2002 04:38 PM

OK, I'm going to kit my self out with a few flash/bangs and a Desert Eagel.

Cover Me!!

Fire in the Hold!!

Hup, Hup, Hup,

Can not wait!

:D :D :D

Acutally one tactic is to lie very still in as much cover as possible.

The human eyes is good at picking up movement... I was down to five paint balls (yes I did have time to count them!). I just lay there for watching three members of the other team run around and shoot at trees. Eventually the got bored and sat down waiting for my team to attack (they were all "dead").

I shot two of them in the back from five feet and the other got a chest and head shot (so lucky) from about 10 feet.

Got up walked up claimed the flag and walked to my base.

Not shot once!:D

Neil Smalley 07 August 2002 04:49 PM

OR

Pretend to be shot. Walk with your gun in the air towards a marshall then when you are behind enemy lines shoot em in the back :D

Nimbus 07 August 2002 04:57 PM

Now that's just sneaky... I like your style :D

Da Booga 07 August 2002 09:42 PM

The only thing I learnt from the last time I went paintballing was that you can't outrun a paintball!!!! OUCH :D

SCOOBERATORS 07 August 2002 09:49 PM

The best advice you can get is dont get shot. or it comes keen;:D

106rallye 07 August 2002 11:29 PM

Take a damp sponge with you its useful for clearing off any mud off yor goggles

[whisper mode] great for cleaning off paint when you get shot!!![/whisper mode]

Oh and don't scream when you get shot!!

It is a really good laugh but take some good boots with as most places are usually muddy and you don't want to twist your ankle etc. and not play for the rest of the day.

Have a good one!!

Cheers

Andy

Had 2 good paintball experiences.

1. My mate got shot in the head at point blank range by a real German  He had a lump the size of a satsuma or maybe even a tangerine on the side of his head :D

2. On a staggy doo - us versus the "bridal party" so about 10 vs 10 in a line, face to face, about 3 metres apart, last game of the day. Were supposed to give them a 20 second start then fire like feck. But the marshalls just whispered to us to shoot them in the nuts straight off. So we did :D

AndiThompson 07 August 2002 11:32 PM

Find the biggest, thickest, most unfriendly looking bush, and sit in the middle. Someone's bound to walk past :D

Camper? me? nah.. :D

Alpine 08 August 2002 10:32 AM

stay on your feet.. You can move faster.. If the other side are organised and lay down covering fire as they advance it's awfully hard to get off your belly and run away without being shot.

Got hit 4 times on the forehead lieing in the grass the first time I went.. Head shots don't count BUT I wished they did...

ChrisB 08 August 2002 10:44 AM

Only time I've been paint balling I peered around the side of a bunker and coped a ball right on my foreheed, about three inches above me nose. Missed the googles totally.

That stung!

Nimbus 08 August 2002 11:36 AM

Will I have a problem with wareing glasses?

EvoRSX 08 August 2002 04:00 PM

Best piece of advice I can give is don't go paintablling for your stag do..... I did this 4 weeks before my wedding and luckily it only took 3 weeks for the bruises to go away.

Best tactics are to go it alone or as a 2 man team and work slowly together. ANother good alternative, if you can organise it, is to just have everyone on the team do a massive mad rush at the opposition. This is the last thing they expect and you can normally get a few people through to capture the falg etc etc etc
We did this tactic once and the look on the other teams faces as they were suddenly faced with 30 odd people charging at them was a picture :D

Take some anti mist stuff for your goggles - whenever I've been I've spent half the game trying to see my hand in front of my face!

A couple of funny things happened:

One guy kept poking his head up over a blockade - it took me a few sighting shots then I got him slap bang between the eyes next time he popped his head up! :D

On one game the other team were running back to their base with the box (aim of the game was to capture it). I started running with them as if I was one of their team, managed to get a bit ahead of them, turned roung and blasted their butts! lol!

Great day out but the bruises last for ages

Richard

I've paintballed twice - once without glasses, once with. Without, you can't tell who is who, so just shoot at anything that moves.
With glasses, you can see, but you will get paint on the lenses, and you won't be able to clean them without removing your mask.
If I do it again, I'll keep my glasses on if the mask fits over them.
If you've got a spare pair of glasses, use them, and keep your normal ones in the car.

had a few sessions with abt 40 colleagues. all i can say is:

KEEP SHOOTING EVEN WHEN U HAVE BEEN SHOT OR HAVE SHOT SOEMONE! https://www.gamers-forums.com/smilie...AR15firing.gif

Had a few times when "Eliminated" opponentS and were shot a couple of times after that near point blank on arms. Looked like a victim of some KGB torture session. http://www.uniquehardware.co.uk/serv.../smilies25.gif

As they say, a co2 gun in hand makes everyone invincible. http://216.40.241.68/contrib/edoom/biggrinbounce.gif

a few extra layers of t shirt would be useful.
