all my system is, is a back box and centre section... which meets the 'standard' down pipe.... where the centre section meets the down pipe they are different...

I.e the old set up had a bull ring/'composite gasket' and the centre section fitted to this ring with two springs/bolts...

However the new exhaust is not like this.... The centre section where it meets the down pipe is different in that the centre section does have an end to fit against the composite gasket, so all ive done is remove the gasket and just slipped the new centre section over the bit of pipe that the composite gasket fitted round on the down pipe...

All i wanted to know was can a get a normal gasket which replaces the composite type gasket because at the moment ive just used some exhaust sealer...

This is my exhaust: in the exhausts section

Hope this is clearer...:):):)

Hi,

I have had my jap innovations exhaust fitted for about 5 months now to my MY95 WRX, i got it second hand.... When i fitted it to the front pipe i.e the cat.... i had to take the old bull ring off and fit it that way using some exhaust sealer stuff....

Is there a gasket that can be bought for this part of the exhaust...???

I think it may be leaking slightly... the system it very similar to the scoobysport one...

Dan...:)

Like you say, there's an O ring at the join of the downpipe and centre section. You should be able to get these at any decent auto factor store. However, it might be funny size that you need cos the shop I went to didn't have one that fit exactly - inner diameter was too small. I filed it out as much as I could (there are metal bits inside these rings) and then bashed it on with a mallet.

The thing is my exhaust doesnt have the end to eccept the bull ring if you get what i mean i.e it doesnt have a indentation for the bull ring to fit into..... i was thinking of just getting a gasket and using that...?

Strange - the flanged end with O ring should be on the standard downpipe.

yea it is but the new exhaust just has a flat end on it if you get what i mean....

I removed the bull ring from the down pipe and fitted my new exhaust over the part of the old exhaust thats protruding from where the old bull ring had been...

By "bull ring" I take it you mean the big fat composite gasket.

Difficult to follow what's what on your exhaust, but when I fitted a SS downpipe to a standard centre, I put the bull ring on the SS downpipe and all was fine.

I think you are trying to fit it to a standard downpipe, yes?

What Jap Innovations exhaust is it? Is it mrt? Is it a 3" system? Anyway, best people to ask would be Jap Innovations. I do know that most 3" systems do not mate properly to the standard exhaust parts.
