Just had the Scoobysport downpipe backbox&airfillter fitted to the p1,what can i say it is fantastic the sound is awsome and without doubt the performance has improved,so thanks to pete and the guys up there.

I have had a SS backbox for a couple of years and the sound is awesome http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif. I was going to go the whole lot on my import (downpipe and centre) but it a lot louder than my previous UK model anyway, so I havent bothered. It definitely revs better at the top of the rev range.

Just make sure your oil isn't overfilled then......... |
Yep, Pete's gear definitely does the business, top notch. I had the downpipe on my P1, and now have the mid/rear box on my MY'01 .. my neighbours know when I'm home http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Dave T-S iam a bit worried about your comment on the over filling of the oil i had the work done thinking that it did'nt effect the engine or warranty in anyway could you or someone else put my mind at rest.
Thanks Chris. |
Nah, learnt to my cost recently what happens after oil overfill. CHRONIC overboost. Put your foot down, launch, 4000RPM, turbo shutdown. I was getting it 3rd, 4th and 5th. Great fun on an SIDC drive and a business trip to Swansea - NOT
Still, quick trip to the dealer (no facilities myself) and £15 + some wry grins and it's fixed. My scooby is back to its old self http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif Just remember - ITS BETWEEN THE TWO DOTS! Laurence EDIT: Problem was caused by overfill splashing into the boost solonoid pipes and fouling them. Check drivetrain section for details [This message has been edited by lpitt (edited 01 July 2001).] |

Thanks Chris.[/quote] Chris There have been several well publicised cases where P1 engines have let go, in at least one it was reckoned that the oil level was set too high at a service, the MAF sensor got contaminated, the ECU got false signals, gave a weak mixture, detonation, BANG. The mapping on a P1 does not have great safety margins when d/pipes are fitted if something like the above happens. Prodrive/Subaru UK will almost certainly walk away from a warranty claim if a P1 engine lets go and a non-Prodrive exhaust is fitted. Not sure i would have had the work done if i thought it could effect the engine or warranty in anyway.Shame because the car sounds awsome still haven't had the radio on yet http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif
