Hi Everyone,:)
Been a bit busy lately but having read some of the threads some of u have posted, decided to start this thread.

Scoob doo has come up with an idea of having a bit of an event at Davidstow airfield nr.Camelford,Cornwall.Time trials,Standing 1/4 mile, stopping distances etc.that sort of thing,+ a BBQ too.Highlight will be Scoob doo doin a few"donuts"!!!:D:D

Anyway i'm prepared to organise a meet and a run, possibly arranging to meet some of our Bristol friends:) from Castle Coombe & then ending up at Davidstow,of which i will leave Scoob doo to arrange the use of the airfield + BBQ.(Hope that ok with u Scoob doo)?

We can make a day of this, how does Sun.18th or 25th Aug.sound? I know 25th is Bank hol.weekend or would you prefer a Saturday???Obviously it will be difficult to arrange a day that suits us all, as we all have commitments, but we can only do our best.

So lets hear from you all"CORNWALL:D,DEVON:),SOMERSET;) & BRISTOL:D"!!!!!

P.S Scoob doo,if u could E:mail me or reply here that u ok to arrange Davidstow,Ta :)

Cheers all u"SCOOBY DOOBIES"...Duracell:D:D:D

I'm down in exeter/torquay this weekend on hol - when/where are you meeting up?

springbok 07 August 2002 05:47 PM

Nice one Duracell,
Looks like we may have a few more scoobs for the "Cornish Petrol Run" :-) Count me in, Cheers, Grahame.

Anyone fancy a recon mission to Davidstowe this Sunday?

Prodrive Sim 07 August 2002 07:56 PM

I'll be there Duracell!!!

Just let us know the date.

scoobdoo 08 August 2002 01:04 AM

OK guys do you want the bad news or the bad news! I have done a recon trip to davidstow this evening, and unless you all fancy rally stage stonechips on your car, a different venue is required! Its a good drive up there, and its a huge airfield, but has more craters than a Beirut street! I have emailed some of you with pics for your perusal, but even in my VW Transporter I felt like i was in operation desert storm. The meet is still good but a different place needs to be found and perhaps a weeks postponement to Sun 1st September, easy date to remember! Anyways get your thinking caps on boys, and come up with another venue!

andy steer 08 August 2002 07:54 PM

Hi Guys, alternative venue!,how about St. Eval further on down the N/coast, we have used it in the past for a few sprints. I presume it is still accessible.I probably wont be able to make the last week in Aug. or the first two w/ends in Sept. as I forgot I,m on holiday.See you soon,
Andy, Scoobynut.

Duracell 09 August 2002 12:32 AM

Hi All,
Just read"Scoob doo's"thread, haven't got the picture's(my computer needs sortin)but i'll take your word for it.

So unless we can think of somewhere else,we'll just have to have a meet & go 4 a"cruise",if you all still want to that is,on 25th?

September 1st no good for me-got to work!!:(,but following Sunday 8th ok.

Will wait till hear more from you guys but can still arrange a meet & a run & wait till we find a venue for"Donuts+BBQ"for another time.

Regards St.Eval, dont know if we'll need permission??

Cheers Duracell :)

Eagle7 09 August 2002 01:10 AM

can we get permission?

SimonJM 11 August 2002 11:26 PM

Hi Guys,

I quiet like the sound of razzing around an airfield. If that's not on I still up for a cruise.

I can make most weekends ;) ;) except:
last in September (stag do to Amsterdam):D :D :D :D
first in October (golfing stag do to France):D :D :D
second in October(stag do in Plymouth):D :D
third in October (actual wedding)  Only 68 days and 13 hours of freedom   or 1645 hours  (not that I'm counting)
following three weekends (honeymoon):D :D :D

Hopefully we can meet this month or early September

Looking forward to it.

Simon

Duracell 12 August 2002 12:27 AM

Hi Simon,
Good to hear from you & in posting u've brought our"thread"back onto page 1,just when i thought everyone else was havin'40 winks!!:D:D

Only 1645 hours of freedom eh!!!
Dont worry,in approx.16weeks time i'll have a backseat"Co-driver"/"Baby Duracell"screaming out:D my PACE NOTES!! (looking forward to it & likewise bet u r at bein spliced:):D))!!!

As you've gathered we've been tryin to set up a meet at a disused airfield somewhere?? but so far have come unstuck!
We were gonna invite the boys down from Bristol, aswell as D/C boys, have a few speed trials etc..,BBQ,and"Scoob doo" was gona perform a few"Donuts":D:D??????

If you've got any ideas, let us know, then i/we can get organising.
Will arrange another meet soon, hope see you then.

P.S Rallyday was a good day,pity u couldn't make it.

Cheers 4 now.....Duracell :)

scoobdoo 12 August 2002 05:45 AM

The pressure for these doughnuts is getting too much!! I have only done them in the wet! And we dont want rain! And besides I am trying to get my hands on a new set of alloys, 18", and so with brand new ultra low profile goodyears the only doughnuts I will be supplying will be my own fryed ones!!!! I am still free most weekends so any date is ok for me!

Big_Snapper 12 August 2002 10:20 AM

What about Smeatharpe airfield near Honiton?
I know there is a rally school and they have a few sprints etc somewhre up there? I think either Torbay or Exeter motorclub organise things there.
Keith.

andy steer 12 August 2002 11:01 PM

Hi Big Snapper @ the rest of you .The sprints you mention are held @ dunkeswell kart club which is a couple of miles from Smeatharpe, there is a rally school next to Dunks Kart club.Smeatharpe and Dunkeswell are both old wartime airfieds but apart from the recognised clubs who own or use the sites the rest is out of bounds I,m afraid.Sorry for the bad news.Has anyone tried Winkleigh in N/Devon, a freind of mine works at a caravan dealers based there, I will give him a ring and suss it out.
Andy .Scoobynut.

Chu 13 August 2002 12:04 AM

Shame!! it was only 10 mins away from me!!:D

springbok 13 August 2002 05:31 PM

OK, Sounds like the airfield idea may be on the back burner for a bit.
Not to let that stop us, who is up for a meet this Sunday 18th. We could follow the same plan minus the airfield bit. As Duracell mentioned before we could meet the Bristol guys somewhere around Exeter and then head for Cornwall for a run and bite to eat etc.
Who's up for it (the run that is), so far Scoobdoo and myself are definates, chaps it's over to you, cheers, Grahame.

Eagle7 13 August 2002 07:54 PM

well, you know i'm up for it! ;) I will have my suspension fitted by then and prodrive alignment done so it will be a good chance to test it out! is the BarB still on?

Eagle7 14 August 2002 11:04 AM
