Could be several things but, if I were you, I would seriously forget about holding it flat in top .... it could be detonating ... the next warning light would then be all of them as the big ends/pistons let go.

It could also be maf related ... in which case the car could well be running lean, again a pre cursor to pistons/big ends letting go.

What fuel are you using etc etc, you should be putting in 97 ron plus enough booster to take it up to 100 ron minimum (Optimax plus booster works as well)

The Sti engine was designed to run on 102 ron fuel and, in Japan, would be speed limited in top gear to about 120 mph or so and would not be "allowed" to be driven like that.

Any ideas appreciated STI 3 + HKS EVC + Full Decat
Car appears to be accelerating ok but when you hold it flat in top it starts to hesitate at an indicated 120, its almost like a soft misfire, car also ticks over very slowly after a thrash & sometimes actually cuts out. After a few mins tickover returns.
Car seems better when running standard boost but obviously less performance. Evc set to max 1.0 with safety cut out enabled.
Last week check engine light came on & fault code was for the Oxygen sensor which was changed on friday. Engine light came on again yesterday for about a Minute but as soon as the road cleared & I floored it the light went out. Have not been able to check fault code yet but I am due to go to the continent during next week & am Looking for ideas prior to a mad panic tomorrow to get it sorted.
As it is only @ high speed would a rolling road be a good idea? I am Hampshire based, who can anybody recommend.

Also not exactly holding it flat in top, car used to go straight to 130 at which point I always lifted off, now it plays up at 120 & I lift off then rather than try & drive through it. My initial description was probably slightly misleading

120mph indicated sounds like it could be 112mph actual. I wonder if your speed limiter fix has somehow broken, and the speed limiter is cutting in.

If it was engine related I would have though the problem would be RPM related in the higher gears, and that you could replicate the problem in 3rd and 4th gear at the same revs.

If its purely speed and not rev related then it possibly is the limiter, Optimax and NF will stop any det unless the maf is playing up.

My type R still has it's speed limiter and cuts out softly (ish) at exactly 120mph which is indeed 112...

Could be the limiter as I recently had a load of rewiring done under the dashboard. Anybody any ideas how I can check this ? or know of anybody in Hampshire who can ?

sounds like the limiter.

You can probably get it fixed, but you could spend more money at PE (if they are willing, not always these days) and get a remap, they can remove the speed limits on the ecu as well as give improvements all round. Price is on the painfull side of £6-700 with the vat though.

I suspect the "fix" you had is very simple, and it's probably just got disconnected from the ecu by your friendly auto sparky.

yep, general consensus seems to be the speedo delimiter, I have managed to get it booked in to Scoobysport tomorrow as my wife is working in Basildon that day.

Sorted @ Scoobysport, Speedo delimiter fix had failed, idle sensor full or crud & wiring to Oxygen sensor had a fault.
Aparently its now going something like it used to, I will judge for myself when the wife gets back
