New Scoob due in 4 weeks - can't sleep at night http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif Time to get insurance. Where should I go?

Stef 29 January 2000 12:38 AM

Steve.

Do a search for insurance and you'll get millions (literally!) of suggestions.

Just got my new scoob and done all the insurance leg work, cheapest for me (25 full ncd clean license) was Bennetts Elite. Haggled over £300 (!) off their original quote. My advice get your best quote, phone Bennetts and get them to beat it.

Steve

Be sure you sound them out re mods should you be considering this at later date . Many run a mile .

Just changed insurers myself recently for this reason. FWIW best for self was Admiral . MY97 Prodrive PP, DEP , 16in wheels - £525 (protected NCB extra)

Try the NFU Mutual

I SAID DON'T LAUGH !!!

£465 oo/my thatcham 1 , full protected ncb ,
Full 5yr loyalty discount 25% , 35 yrs , garaged , lincolnshire .
if you do it don't prang it cause you will put my premium up to

Philip Thurlow 29 January 2000 11:02 PM

haha - I got a quote from the NFU - now there quote was £1400 more than the highest other quoite - for me a ickle swweeet inocent young lad from yorksjire (S600BY X - I'm not a sheep shagg** btw) er where qwas I ?? oh yup thats it - very high quote - me thinks that NFU stands for No Fu**ing Use ! btw - I'm pissed ! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/redface.gif)

James Neill 30 January 2000 09:34 AM

The common theme with NFU (ie, I looked at other posts) is that its good for the 'oldies' amongst us rather than us dashing youngsters with the loose women and the fast cars http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Stef 30 January 2000 03:39 PM

I'm with the NFU as well though....and don't say 'Exactly!'.

Stef.

Steve Gee 01 February 2000 09:49 PM

I'm an NFU'er too!
Like to think I'm the "mature" type!
No increase in premium for slight mods.
£100 increase in excess for speeding disqualification.
Steve

Steve,
I too am only 4 weeks away from my scooby and I know what you mean about the sleepless nights! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif
I've rung over 38 companies / brokers this week and the results have been interesting to say the least. Thought I'd try Admiral first as they seem to be popular here, but got some argumentative tos#*r, not a great start, besides they were over £300 off the mark! Give Quoteline Direct a call (they advertise in CAR and EVO I think) as they beat everyone with £495 protected for me 32yrs 5yrs NCB with the wife 27yrs on as well, mods not a problem. The policy is through AXA and it seems they have a special deal with them that other brokers can't match. Noone else even came close inc. all the above.
Hope it helps.
Cheers
Iain.
