I know, I've seen it on the track twice!!

moses 01 August 2002 05:50 PM

wow would have been awesome hey its wicked :)

uxg 01 August 2002 07:07 PM

Very nice car but it's not the most powerful Evo as it claims on the website. This months Banzai magazine features a 700bhp+ yellow Evo.

C 01 August 2002 07:11 PM

yeah the jun evo is more powerfull...

700 plus bhp apparently.

i have heard simon's car isn't the most reliable either running that sort of power....

still bloody impressive..

Nice track manners hes got

moses 01 August 2002 08:29 PM

its the fastest in the uk the jun ones in japan, never mind his track manners he is human people make mistakes so its cool :D he didnt bash into anyone so its cool :)

mike_s14 02 August 2002 08:25 AM

saw it at castle combe last weekend, its awesome.

only the silver shortwheel base quattro was quicker IMHO

Paul78 02 August 2002 10:07 AM

Anyone know if he is going upto York on Sunday for 10 of the best, I've yet to see a seriously tuned Evo going for it - Which could be fun !

Spanpody. 02 August 2002 10:35 AM

Paul78

You are in luck, according to the lancer register Simon will be at 10 of the best on Sunday.

Moses, how ya doing m8y, the video shows some good footage of Simon's E5 passing a good few cars :D

uxg 02 August 2002 11:55 AM

By the way does anyone now what the highest bhp is on a road going Scooby. Just interested to know. Although I love both the Evo's and Scooby's (pretty sacriligeous I know) they can't touch Skylines for bhp as you are starting to see several 1000bhp+ GT-Rs. Got a video clip of a 1000bhp Skyline which does the 1/4 mile in 9 seconds. Nice :) I'll post it up if someone tells me how to do it.

Jez 200 02 August 2002 10:38 PM

Simon's Evo 5 is the most powerfull outside of japan running on 98RON FUEL...The one in Banzai this month runs on race fuel!

The reliability issues he has had have been entirely down to the clutch,Even the up-rated ones are struggling to cope with the power!, i think it has been replaced at least twice, both times at a cost of around a grand!!

scoobynutta555 02 August 2002 11:06 PM

saw that video, and although the driving was very fast indeed, im sure all the other peops on the track werent lauding his skills. Im not an expert at track driving, but to me it seemed that whoever it was, was a small step away from a big accident. Maybe somebody could tell me that im imagining very poor courtesy to other drivers, or is this what happens on a track day?

I know if i shelled out for that meet and that driver was around id be concerned that there would be an accident. Seems to me that no matter how good a driver you are, or THINK you are you have to take into consideration other users, and some other drivers were quite obviously not up to this guys level.

InsBro 03 August 2002 01:37 AM

Simons car was quicker than both the 600bhp+ Quattro and the extreme 7 at CC
(the quattro is a sprint/hill climb car, and had been set up for the day)

The only car that lapped quicker was Jasons Evo 4 (400bhp) but full slicks serious suspension and an ex rally driver behind the wheel.

Simon will have uprated suspension and slicks next time:D

Superb :D

Wouldn't mind a pax in that thing :D

This seriously begs the question of why people who can drive the track fecking quick and have the meaty cars to do it with bother when they know novices are on the track.

Track days seriously need to separate beginners/novices from experienced drivers (and nutters ;))

This way, the experienced driver does not get frustrated with slower drivers and do not place the beginners/novices at risk.
the beginners/novices won't be worrying about people tailgaiting them and harrassing them to move over and placing the faster drivers' at risk in case they make a mistake by panicking.

Either that or just do completely separate days for both sets!!!

I am not a wickedly fast driver on track, but I am not exactly slow and am a lot faster than a lot of people. I do not mind having faster people on track with me as I am able to get me arse out of the way if needed :D
But some people can have teir confidence destroyed and will not enjoy bringing their car on a track day again.

Anyway, I am waffling now.

Nice Evo :D

RaZe-=Buzz=- 05 August 2002 07:40 PM

HA! That thing was at Elvington...looked like it was going to be really impressive..

Rev limiter.....

lights go yellow....

green!!!!!!!

dump the clutch....

5 feet later it smashed the rear diff to pieces (I saw it afterwards with a huge crack in the casing), he limped up the strip in about 4 minutes and back round to be jacked up and pulled apart. After that he did a few runs with very gentle set-offs and just ran it up the strip to check it was all OK again...I guess they only took one spare diff :D

Shame. It looked nice anyway..
