MY00 always run on SUL. 300 plus miles to a tank no problem.
Sorry, I can't help it. It just does. |
Normally run NUL with my MY00 but recently tried SUL. No noticeable mpg difference (approx 25mpg) although definitely better performance http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif I did once get 32.5mpg during the fuel crises - achieved by keeping to 3000rpm on the motorway...
IIRC, the MY00 ecu detects the fuel quality and adjusts itself accordingly. I believe earlier cars need an ecu reset. |
I run my MY00 on SUL.
Occasionally I have to buy NUL because its all there is where I am, and I notice the difference, particularly in the 2 - 3000 rev range. Car feels really constipated on NUL - much livelier on SUL Fuel consumption - I think it is better on SUL by about 2mpg but fuel consumption varies much more with other factors such as how you drive, Winter or Summer, etc. JD |
I recently switched to SUL and did an ECU reset... now getting about 300 motorway miles per tank easy.
Simon. |
Do you gain anything from you using SUL in a UK model in the same way that you do from an import. I believe im getting improved mpg now but my change in fuel also conincided with resetting my ecu and so not too sure if it is all attributed to a higher RON rating in my tank? anyone know?
|
I recon that i get about 2mpg more and slightly smoother accelleration and running on SUL - MY99 UK car.
I have been told that this is not the case so hey, what do i know http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif |
I gain about an extra 20 miles per tank if I run SUL & Octane booster - MY00 Turbo compared to just SUL, never use NUL so couldn't comment, gives me a more reasonable total of 170-200 miles per tank http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif
|
I tried SUL and Octane booster - MY97 UK Turbo, for 6 Months. I was getting 22-24 mpg.
I have gone back to UL and I am getting 23 -25 mpg. My driving style is the same. Unless you reset your ECU, it takes a while until you see the benifits. I guess thats why with UL I am seeing good results still. 170 - 200 miles per tank (OUCH), I usually get 220 - 250. |
Getting 30+mpg from tank of 97 http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif
And thats not hanging about either http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif D |

And 1 year or 9000 mile service intervals http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/tongue.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/tongue.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/tongue.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/tongue.gif

At what point on the fuel guage to u all goto the petrol station?
I normally go when it hits quarter full. thats about 220 miles. |
SCOSaltire, as soon as I can manage after the light comes on http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif
|
At the end of the day come to Milton Keynes. If you want to have the lowest mpg then MK is the place to come. 100 miles to the tank easy http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif
All I say is thank god I work in London http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/tongue.gif [This message has been edited by roadrunner (edited 26 June 2001).] |
lol
i havent seen the light come on yet... tank is 60 litres? my usual fill-up is about 42-46 litres |
42-46l, that tank is still half full http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif normally in the low 50s, record of 59.6l I think, you could say I was getting slightly concerned, but I did manage the 178 miles from Inverness to Glasgow on one tank, just http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif
roadrunner, 100 miles from a tank, I've only done that once, I think it had something to do with the rev counter hitting the red line a lot though http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif |
Dont think my scoob has a low fuel light.
|
I once got 53l of Sainsburys Petrol in my 50 litre tank!
Hmm |
Must have been small litres http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif
Can't quite match you, but I got just over 47l into a 45l tank in my last car http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif |
Switched to SUL in my UK MY00 about 4 months ago (when I got the fuel card and the company is now picking up the tab http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif ) - big difference is performance. Much smoother and better acceleration. Slightly better MPG, but I also use an octane booster as well. Normally get about 270 miles out of a tank. Have managed over 300, but that was an exception. Highly recommended. You've only got to look at the quoted outputs for the new UK300 running on NUL and SUL to see the benefits of running Subarus on SUL.

My MY00 used to overboost like a bitch using NUL. After changing to SUL it very rarely did it and also runs a lot smoother
|
I'm using SUL (Shell mostly sometimes Esso) + Millers giving me 99 RON.
The engine feels much smoother and throttle response is better. MPG is up but I don't think it offsets the additional cost. Jason |
