You can buy a gearbox which is fitted to the speedo cable. It is a 5 minute job to fit-and easier if the car is on a lift.I bought one last year for my old car from EURO SPEC 2000 LTD in England for £75.Their no. is 01276 670 628 or www.euro-spec2000.co.uk.
Hope this helps.

yeah, or if you look some of the jap mags...jap performance etc, you can get them for £60... I got mine for £50 in Dublin when i got the car SVA'd

Paul Mc Loughlin in Macspower Motorsport should be able to help you out on 045 982 555. He is based in Clane and specialises in Scoobs.

By the way the ISDC are having a track day in Mondello on Thursday if you are interested.

There was an add in the back few pages Jap car mag. South Eastern Transmissions, or something do them. My mate bought his for around £50 all in. ( South East England I assume )

kungfu 10 August 2002 01:25 PM

when i got my car sva'd in dublin, the chap there got me one...i had to put it on to change from kph-mph, it also de-restricted (as i found out on the way home !!) £50

WRX SCOOBY 12 August 2002 11:30 PM

whats svad and who was it as id like to get one

ustolemyname??stevieturbo 13 August 2002 12:20 AM

Single vehicle approval. Its not a shop. They inspect the car or some bollox like that.

kungfu 14 August 2002 12:36 AM

if you bring a car in from japan, you have to get it sva'd before you can mot it, £500...and is the biggest pile of ****e!! but has to be done
i got my de-restrictor at the test center, and they fitted it for the test

ustolemyname??stevieturbo 14 August 2002 01:14 AM

Wasnt aware of that??? Ive seen loads of cars, come straight up north, and all they needed here was an MOT?? ( along with all the other documentation relating to import.
They just passed thru the south, as they have to for some import gibberish, they cant ship them straight to the UK??

fast bloke 14 August 2002 11:48 PM

they would probably be EU imports. All Jap stuff (cars and bikes) needs SVA to check that it meets UK requirements. I got it done on a bike a few years ago and all they did was check that the headlight dipped left and the speedo was in MPH

ustolemyname??stevieturbo 15 August 2002 01:22 AM

Nope, Jap stuff too. Maybe I just didnt see the paper work, but some of the cars were no sooner into dublin, than on their way up here. The cars were only fitted with MPH etc etc up here, for the MOT

kungfu 17 August 2002 12:56 AM

to go to the mot, if the vehicle has come from japan, they will ask for the sva certificate.......you can't get it mot'd without one...robbing gits!!
