I will need a 45k service shortly. AIUI this normally involves a cambelt change. However, attached to the back of one of my old service receipts is a service schedule, which indicates MY00 cars have their cambelts changed at 60k. I phoned a dealer, and they seemed to think this applied to MY01 onwards, not MY00. Can anyone shed any light (e.g. has anyone had a MY00 45k service done)? I'd like to know how much I'm in for...

My 45k is this week on a WRX STi MY99
Timing Belt needs to be changed apparently. This is the same thing I think. Im being charged £450. Its an all day job apparently.

00MY on is changed at 60k or 4 years.

upto 99MY is 45k or 3 years.

Smart! (although the MY00 and MY99 are the same car...). That should mean more like 160 quid than 400 quid. Of couse, when 60k comes I'll be stiffed for a 30k service *and* a cambelt change at the same time http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif

Shark: you're a Scoob mechanic in Hertfordshire. Which dealer, as I'm trying out different ones at the moment (I've not really found one that I'm totally happy with)?

Shark, why should they have different times?? same car??

Shark 25 June 2001 05:49 PM

Dominic

The 99MY has a different belt to the upto 98MY cars. I guess that the new belt is stronger and thus less likely to fail. Also the pulleys are different.

What I am at a loss to explain is that 99MY and 00MY are the same belt. Bulletin 6-6C-020 changes the service times and states that the belt interval goes upto 60k. It clearly states 00MY on it http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif

If anyone wants the IM view let me know and I'll call them.

I've got an MY99 (Sept 1999) and the owners manual states that the camblet needs changing at 60K miles, not 45K. Although the dealers would prefer that you spend lots of money at 45K I'm sure.....
