I met someone yesterday who uses vegetable oil in a diesel shogun, is this legal? at 37p a litre its a cheap fuel.

I don't know the legal side but I have a friend who is in the process of converting his truck to run on vegetable oil...

Not an expert, but I don't see a problem for diddling the Customs and Excise out of tax, if that's what you're thinking. I'd be curious to see the emissions results though.

My brother brews his own, as he has a cheap source of used cooking oil. I'll ask him what it's all about when I've not had a little to drink and can understand the reply!

Apparently the guys done nothing to run on veg oil, he sometimes runs on diesel sometimes on oil and sometimes mixes it.
I just wondred wether a fuel needed to be approved by dot, i.e for emmissions safety etc.
Only drawback is the car smells like a chip van.
