Sent an e-mail to my local dealer yesterday speccing out a new STi TYPE UK before I order it. You know the sort of thing - white indicators and reflectors, Prodrive 18" 7-spokes, PPP, different radio etc, for delivery in February 2003.

Got a phone call this morning from them telling me that they could not answer most of the questions because they now had positive confirmation that the Impreza would get a "complete re-skin" to be revealed to the public at the Paris Motorshow in September. Based upon that he could not say for example whether I would even need to order things like white indicators or reflectors. He did say he had test driven the new Forester and that if even some of the features of that car appeared in the new Impreza it would be very impressive.

Anyone else heard anything?

Cheers

Having spent over 27k on my STI I will be more than a little upset if it the new car is completly different! I was hoping the STI would have low depreciation but if they do change it where will it leave us?

It's no big deal, these cars arent investments anyway are they.

Hi all
We should know by now that these specialist cars are prone to revamp even every year. For example there is a new evo 8 coming out soon with six speed box apparently.

In Japan there are loads of different spec models of the STI eg RA,202, if you log on to subaru Japan you know what I mean.

It's one of those things you got to live with.I know it sucks as every one wants to be seen in the latest model.

Now that Tang has said that, I think I'll wait a bit longer before I order my STI8?

Basically I want a model which has all or most of the mods as I can't be asked to mess about with declaring this mod and that mod with the insurance companies. And costing me a fortune

Carolyn, you didn't buy P1's though, did you? Do they have to be different colours? :D

I did see the white P1 prototype offered for sale - you could have had that one!

Mrs T-S, your STi7 is just going to look SO last year when the STi8 is out ;)

People will be coming up to you and saying things like "that's a great looking car you have there, it's an STi7 isn't it? They were great last season weren't they" ;)

I wouldn't fall for such fashion malarchy myself, but come to think of it I may have to change my phone as someone said "oh, isn't that one of those new WAP phones with the big displays, they're wicked, er, no it isn't, sorry, it's just an old 8210, my mistake"

I was going to buy that white one, it had loads of mods on it, but at the end of the day who wants to buy a white P1 thats going to have been thrashed around the place.

I was genuinely tempted - at least it should have been properly maintained. It's a (small) piece of automotive history after all.
