The reception of the standard head unit is much worse than that of the headunit in my wife's Passat.
Any ideas aerial or headunit? |
Was this the factory fit?
There is a known "gotya" with MY01+ that means you need to connect the external aerial/amp turn on lead to the ISO connector if it's a replacement, otherwise the active aerial doesn't power up. If it's original, erm... It shouldn't be *that* bad. |
Suppose I am just very picky 'cos it is the original. Maybe I should try selling it and put in that Nakamichi I have been eyeing for such a long time. At least it has RDS as well as RCA's.

Could you elaborate a little more plse. Replaced my double din and reception noticeably worse than before ! |
Russel,
Your head unit will have an "external remote turn-on", or "aerial trigger", or "amp turn-on" or something like that. Most times this is not connected into the ISO block despite there being a place in the ISO block defined for it. The MY01+ has an aerial in the back windscreen IIRC, and this needs turning on. This should be in the FAQ. I'll check, and if it ain't I'll search and add it. |
Sorry my MY01 still has the normal whip aerial in the A pillar, in SA the window Aerial was only introduced from the MY02 model.

Even more confused now
Presumably there is a remote eleccy aerial wire and also a remote amp turn on wire on my h/unit. Which one is needed to turn on the aerial ? either ? Thanks |
