With most 22b's now havng run out of warrenty (with the obvious exception of the UK owners who had the opertunity to extended their warrenty for another 2 years), do you believe the 22b will hold its value as it has done up until now in years to come ? With bits and pieces for these cars being an astromical price, does anybody believe there is even much of a market for these cars outside warrenty ?

I did a search the other week on autotrader and saw a 22B for £23K with all the others being near or above £30K. I'm not sure if this was a type UK or not. Realistically I can't see them dropping much below £15-20K in the UK ever as they are the "one" to have. Also as time passes more of them will be written off so the exclusivity will just rise and hence this will keep the prices up.

What you will find is that most are now being brought by people who intened to keep them for ever, ie me, mine is now my second car so is only used at the weekend.

Note-parts are not a problem, as long as you know where to look.

They are a great investment as long as buy them for the right price and keep them standard ;) :D

I think they are going in the route of, and excuse me for this, but the escort cosworths, they kinda held value as standard cars for ages and now its hard to find a standard one. Anyway, my point is that I reckon for around 1-3 years they will hold as standard cars, but after that period the standard ones will be VERY rare.

I suppose you could classify the monte carlo edition as special, but the distinction between monte edition and normal is not as pronounced as the difference beyween 22B and other imprezas.

if not then its no higehr than any other impreza so long as you dont crash it, inwhich case it is more than pretty much everycar this mclaren F1 and pagani zonda.

Values I think depend if your a speculator or an enthusiast. I am an enthusiast but some people out there are the other sort of scum! I ask you to consider a chain of garages that have in their portfolio a 22b UK. This car is kept in storage for most of the year and carted out occaisionally with a £50k price tag on it. Needless to say, it doesn't sell. Is this an enthusiast or a speculator?

The 22b I was originally going to buy (you may remember how I was treated in a thread back in November) has just been sold for the price I originally agreed. It was not sold for the £2.5k EXTRA that the vendor asked of me the night before I went to collect it. It has gone to an enthusiast and left the hands of a speculator and I'm glad.

Anyway....what were you on about Richard?

Warranty issue put me off buying a 22b, as it has a very rare varient engine, 2.2, it would be off the road for quite a while if the engine needed changing/and possibly be quite expensive. Without a subaru warranty you really are hanging your arse out to be spanked. I needed a car for everyday use so went P1 way and possible 5 year warranty.

Having said that, there cant be more than a dozen "uk" 22bs out there so their value shouldnt drop too much when subaru cover stops. There seem to be a few jap 22bs out there though at a much more reasonable price.

well as they only made 16 22B typeUK's you are saying something a bit obvious. ;):D

when prodrive tried to register their 22b's didnt they find they could not as importers had already reached their quota for that year so i presumethat almost all of the 22b's for sale are imports and therefore not backed by subaru uk,need to run on 100 ron petrol etc hence the low prices(well compared to brand new!!)i dont think anyone would trade theirs in for a sti7??
