Anyone had a problem using the GT disc of GT2 PAL (the bizarrely scratch and sniff disc)

Mine won't load - gets the first 2 screens then keeps trying but failing to load.

Arcade disc works fine though (just my bloody luck)

Serves ya right for buying dodgy mail order

Paul Wilson 28 January 2000 10:05 PM

Mine works fine, mind you buying from a shop doesn't save you from idiots, bought my copy today, got home, no discs in the (shrinkwrapped) box http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif discs and manuals were wrapped seperately to stop the tea leaves making off with them.

Seems daft to me that you buy a great game like GT2, then simply transfer all your licences and cars from GT1, missing a huge part of the game in the process!!!!
It would be better if you had to reach a certain point in the game before you could transfer other cars over.
The US version of GT2 had several glitches, and it was far too easy to get the licences anyway.
What's the UK one like? Are there huge gaps between bronze and silver licences.

I am having trouble downloading my credits., cars and licence info from GT1 to GT2. I'm following the instructions, but no luck [ it's always possible that I'm doing it totally wrong!]. Also, where is the ' load and save' in GT2? The manual says there is this facility in ' Home', as there was in GT1, but I dont seem to have it!! For example, I did a couple of the driving tests, could'nt see any obvious way of saving that info, so had to enter a race, as at the end you get a save option. Help!!
Apart from this, the new game is a big step on from the old one,
Mark

Well, luckily I dived in so quickly that I delted all my GT1 info on my memory card to make room for GT2; then promptly found the convert function. Yay...!

If you want to save during the game, you have to return to the main title screen, and the option's there.

So how many of you already own STiVIs?

Second car I bought http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Apparantly you can only download GT1's licences to the new game, not cars, credits etc. Dont worry Stef, theres additional licences to do in GT2, but what I really wanted was the credits, to try out all the additional cars.

That's alright then...... http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Who wants an STiVI when you can get a 22B?

Stef.

Tim Bomford 30 January 2000 04:24 PM

I cannot even download my licenses!
Tim

dsmith 30 January 2000 11:25 PM

Tim,

The licences are so easy it's probably quicker to do them than try to import....

The first one that was even remotely a challenge was the corkscrew at Leguna Seca. (last test in Int-B I think)

Oakley:
I belive that it appears in the scooby stock list (used I belive) when the 'D' (days) counter reads 200+ Not sure how long it hangs about for though. Have a feeling it's quite costly, aprox 100,000 though I might be wrong.

Take a peek at my previous posting and go to the gran turismo forum and do a search for 22b, should turn up a thread that mentions the when, where, and cost, of when the 22b in GT2

Markus 31 January 2000 12:13 AM

can't get onto the GT bbs at the mo, sooo....

anyone worked out how to load/save car settings? as far as I can see you can't, which is really silly.

Also, is anyone else really annoyed by the auto replay feature after a race, licence test? this is really buggin me.

Maybe I'll just get it hacked out!!! Long live Action Replay!

Richard F 31 January 2000 12:21 AM

But does anybody think it's a bit too easy? I guess I'm missing the point but being up at 500,000 with the Speed 12, umpteen race Skylines etc after a couple of days seems a bit too easy really.

The rally stuff's good though.

mark245:
Loading and (more importantly) saving.

After boot up and selectin lang you get the menu with start, options, etc... this menu contains a load and save command.

After finishing a race you will be prompted wether you wish to save. This is on the screen showing the credits you won for the race. NOTE: the default button is exit, thus it is VERY easy to continue without saving!

If you forget to hit save after race simply go to the main screen, the one with all the 'cities' on it, then click the icon in the bottom right of the screen. this takes you back to the main menu, then select save from the list of items.

Oakley 31 January 2000 10:07 AM

Anyone found the 22B yet? I hear it appears at random in the Subaru used selection, but I have no idea if it's random, or if I have to do something...?

Mark

Markus 31 January 2000 10:07 AM

FYI
point your browser here

robman 31 January 2000 11:19 AM

After speaking to the tech support it seems like there was a bad batch so mine's on its way back.

Wonder if it was anything to do with the scratch and sniff coating process? What a pointless exercise that was anyway!

Stef 31 January 2000 08:08 PM

Yes, I also think it's far too easy to get lots of money quickly.
Simply enter the Special Events, win a car each time some of which are worth 500,000 to sell, and it becomes very easy to amass a large garage and wads of cash. You can't hold more than 100 cars in your garage though.
I have also bought the 22B.
It appears in the Used Subaru Garage, and costs approx 51,000.
I won't tell you when it appeared for me, 'cos that would spoil your fun, wouldn't it? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif
It wasn't that long though....let's just say I only had 30,000 credits when it appeared. Luckily it was still there 3 days later.

robman:
what model is your PSX? the reason I ask is that I've got a first gen psx (purchased on first day of release) and it won't play my GT mode disk, however my girlfirends machine, aprox a year - year 1/2 old, plays it no problem.

Someone on the granturismo forum said that it sounds like the laser guides are screwed and it could be new playstaion time.

Am going to get a replacement disk to see if that works. At present I've 'aquired' my girlfriends psx, hehe!
