Is it worth it ?

Currently got Standard 99 UK Turbo with SS back box which would get sold on (back box - not the car)

2 Grand - tempted but will it Really REALLY put the grin on overdrive ?

Can I get a better price cos I'm a member of SIDC ?

Shop around. Some dealers will do it for £1600

If money is no problem then it's worth buying IMHO, if you wish to extend the warranty on your 99MY and retain some official cover.

However !

I fitted a Tek2 remapped Subaru ECU about 5000m ago for £500 plus a second hand PPP backbox for £150 and my Subaru dealer is happy to fit some uprated Samco hoses (£75) for a nominal charge. This only leaves the mid-exhaust resonator section which I may or may not add.

This is 1/3rd of the price of the PPP

For that I have:-
1) Just under 250 bhp and lb/ft torque (rolling roaded)
2) Improved fuel consumption due to more mid-range torque
3) Undetectable ECU change to Subaru dealers (its still a Subaru ECU box remember)
4) As I have no other mods (standard air filter and mid/front section) there is no more risk to engine longevity than the PPP itself - in fact if you read the posts, the fueling is actually on the safer side than the PPP
5) No reason why you can't extend your warranty through the Subaru dealer...

My experience has been very good to date - might be worth speaking to John Banks or Power Engineering for some educated technical reassurance as well

Mail order from Ecutek - took 30 mins max to swap the ECUs over (whole module)

They advise getting the full load fuel mix and max boost pressure checked to make sure there are no faults (normally sensors) already exisiting on the car.

Power Engineering / Ecutek can do this for you for about about an hour's labour charge including a rolling road power plot. They are in Uxbridge nr Heathrow

Very happy so far with it - not out for the maximum in power just a bit more sustained poke - which it delivers. Airfield trackday next weekend so we'll see how it goes.

PPP on the cheap I believe but still seems to be profesionally done
