In a quiet, respectable area.

You'd have no trouble getting 140-150k in Godalming, Surrey.
What's it on for up there? |
£39,995
Are salaries 3 times more than Northern equivalencies in the South? [Edited by rik1471 - 7/16/2002 12:46:48 PM] [Edited by rik1471 - 7/16/2002 12:47:11 PM] |
Proabably 90k-100k round here.
|
About 130-140 round bracknell too :(
And no - we don't get 3 times the salary as you lot :( |
Re: salaries, from the research I've done (moving to Scotland...) I'd say that up north you can expect to earn between 40% and 60% of what you'd earn in the SE.
But it depends on the job, the exact area and a host of other factors... |
I was looking in Redhill, surrey (where i live), there was a 14x15 studio flat with shared kitchen etc, total pants, guess how much....
£89,950!!!! ****ards! *****ng rip off if you ask me :( |
£150 in Reading...and yes we do earn 3 times you lot!!! :D
|
I really wonder how they can get away with charging so much??
90,000 for that Studio flat for example. Crazy! |
On of the girls in my team bought a flat in Notting Hill last year. It had one bedroom (about 12'x11') a lounge (14'x14', IIRC), a kitchen (tiny), bathroom and that was about it. There was no garden, and no offroad parking.
She paid £295,000. :o I suspect it's probably worth closer to 400k now, though. |
I would say nearer 160k for that if it were in the Bracknell/Ascot area, more if it was Windsor.
Mate of mine owns a flat in Windsor, ground floor of a 2 bed victorian terrace, small garden, no parking, 1 bedroom, over 150k !!! |
Thats not too dissimilar to a house I sold last June for £130k in Poole, Dorset. Mine was mid terrace, 2 bed 3 rec, beds were 12"x12 ish, bathroom was 10"x10", down stairs were lounge 13"x11" and diner the same size, sun room 9"x9" and kitchen 18"x12" had w/c downstairs. ORP, newish UPVC DG allround, leaky roof :) , unfinished DIY project on the guttering round the back ;)
Would probably go for around £140k now. Similiar houses in other areas would go between 100k and 180k probably, so many 'good' and 'bad' areas. |
That house round here: (Kingston Upon Thames/Surbiton)
Would be worth about £200k, maybe a bit more!! Two up, two downs about £200-240k, depending on period!!!! Toby, Caroline's studio flat was valued at £105k in Kingston!!! And with the development in town, it will be worth a lot more soon!!! |
in st albans 200 grand
|
depends where in bracknell dave ;)
|
£120k ish around the Herts/Essex wilds....but you get better weather down here so that makes your house worth more :D
|
proberbly over 120,000 over here in brissol :(
|
Jawa - you would be surprised to see property prices in the Bronx (Gt Hollands) these days. Bl00dy stupid !
Still yeah it does depend where in the Bracknell area. I was thinking of Binfield, Warfield, Winkfield areas, cos thats where you might find that sort of house. |
lol :D
agreed, in those areas aye!! ;) |
crnr
|
That would be at least £300k in Islington. Do you have castors and a strong back?
|
£250k - £300k in Golders Green / Hampstead
|
Blow Dog£250k - "£300k in Golders Green / Hampstead"
Too true......Gone mental around here... [Edited by Luke - 7/16/2002 11:12:16 PM] |
Go even further south and ship it over to Jersey.
The prices over here are completely mad. Old Nigel Mansell paid 5.5 million for an average place just down the road from me. and the house opposite me sold for 3.5 million. A starter home for first time buyer is now nearing £300k and anything reasonable is over £500k. But hey we're all billionaires over here so it doesn't matter:D |
Well it depends where about in Manchester you are.
I sold my house 3 double beds, large knock through lounge, brown new PVC all over the house with gold bars going through the glass, new decor plus extras. I got 27,000 after 6/8 months being on the market. chel xxx [Edited by Chelsie-Bun - 7/17/2002 2:14:53 PM] |
About £185k in Hamble, Hants if you were actually in the village, walking distance from the marina.
|
Cheers peeps,
very interesting. :) |
About £200,000 in the Bounds Green (Enfield, North London) area with no off street parking :eek::eek:
Tell me what you earn and I'll tell you how many times more us Londoners earn.....;););) Matt :D:D |
well I looked at a house very similar to that in mill hill village (NW7 opposite the three hammers pub to those who know).
£400,000! i stopped looking once I saw the price! |
