I bought a set of 18' OZ Super leggerra's 4 months ago. When putting the wheel's on the car he paint started flaking off them so needless to say they went back. Recieved the wheels back 2 weeks later. When putting the wheels back on we reailised that they were a very dark shade of gold 9nstead of the usual bright gold of OZ. 1 week later one of these wheels shattered when i hit a very small pothole. That wheel has since gone away to Italy to be examined. I was given 4 new wheels because of the colour difference when i picked up my new rim.
Went to birmingham the weekend for a car show and whilst driving to the show from the hotel i hit another little pothole. When i got to the show and parked up i noticed that the both N/S rims had buckled.
Is there a problem with these Rim's ? I had to pay for the first one that broke, dont really want to pay for another 2. Would really appreciate anyone's recommendations or comments

There has been a lot of talk on the bbs in the past regarding Super L's being too light for normal road use and breaking / buckling due to the low unsprung weight, again I didnt get some and went for P1 wheels as well.

Strange, I really clouted one of my 17" Super L's on a massive pothole, thought I had deffo bent my Leda shocker and rim, but nope everything was fine.
I'm sure they have problems with different batches.

Unless Dave T-S knows better, OZ have had a problem with manufacturing Superleggeras. There are some very weak ones out there. Good enough a reason to stay away from them.

What about Volk Rays TE37?

£2000 in 18 x 8.5
5.85kg in magnesium and 6.9kg in forged alloy. White or gold or custom colour (your colour code)

Or how about Circlar GTA?

They weigh 9.8kg in 18 inch

Or the Advan model 6?

Simply put, they ain't strong enough. OZ claim they're modelled after F1 wheels, which I don't doubt. Thing is, I've never seen a pot hole on an F1 circuit. Also, there's lots of rubber inflated at 20psi to protect an F1 wheel.

I have the 17's and have hit a few pot holes.
They seem to be holding up fine for me. They are
shod with SO3's which do have nice strong sidewalls
to help protect though. Seems like the problem may
be limited to the 18's.

Claudius, where do i get them rims from mate ? I hunted everywhere for rims to begin with and i couldnt get any decent 1's anywhere. When i was offered the OZ's i took them cos no1 could provide 18's at the correct offset. Also, will a 8.5 rim fit under my arches ok or will i get rubbing ?

I posted these rims with dimension and weight info so you can see what they look like if you do not have the Japanese tuning magazines at your home in Europe which most people dont I would think.

Anyway, the sizes I gave are *cough* for another similar car ;)*cough* but are available in all sorts of sizes and offsets, so most probably also for your P1.

I know an importer in France, but I'm sure you can get someone to import them for you in the UK as well. Try a tuner who get lots of stuff imported so they add them to their next shipment (RC Developments for example). But dont let them sell you other wheels (they will try to)!

I'll try and check for the sizes.

OK. :)

Volk Rays in 18 x 7.5 PCD 100 5 holes weigh 7.35kg. Offset is +48. Unless the web info I found is wrong, these should fit any Impreza model after 1992.
